Can't take a punch?? WTF game were you watching?? Barret hits him and AJ just looks at him like it was a little love tap. He turned around, walked away, and threw his hands up to the crowd. Why get suspended and hurt the entire team. That sounds like a cubs attitude to me. Besides, he didn't have to do anything. Podsednik came right out and took Barret to the ground. We saw how tough he was when not throwing a surprise hit. And what is this about the first baseman going to the hospital with possible broken ribs?? Yeah.... I think it is clear who won the fight Czech. Give it up man.... the cubs just need to get used to the sox pushing them around.

NICELY SAID!, the cubs are just jealous that the Sox win and they can't do it. If you can't see that the Sox won that fight you have some serious issues. A couple friends of mine are die-hard Cubs fans, they were mad when the Sox won the world series. I talked to them and they even said that it was clear the Sox won the game. Like FRJ said, why fight back and hurt the whole team and have to pay yourself. Even though A.J. is in just about every contraversial (SP?) play/action that happens on the field, he is a valuable player to the team. They may not have won the world series if it weren't for A.J.

Ever think that it is his first season in the ML? He is a rookie and needs more practice. He is a great fielder but he can use a little more batting practice. But what about Barrett or the other cubs catcher I don't remember, his average was like .056 or something like that.

The thing is that it's just sad that the cub fans need to resort to the "plate smack" as bad sportsmanship to make Barret taking a swing seem less wrong. The whole thing is rediculous. AJ plowed Barret because he was blocking the plate. He was not wrong in any way by doing so. He smacked the plate, big deal. I can see almost anyone doing the same thing given the rivalry. The fact that he took a step foreward before starting to head to his bench should not have been enough for Barret to grab him. If someone grabbed me I would have said something too, and I'm sure AJ did. Barret took a swing, that didn't phase AJ, and AJ walked away. That is it..... there is no "oh well he shouldn't have hit the plate". That is BS..... It doesn't matter though. When the cubs make up the 12 or so full games they are behind the sox they can talk again.... Until then we should have silence for a few years. To bad they will never shut up....
Did you even watch the game? It sounds to me like you are just saying what all of the big headed Cub's fans say, they just try to pass the blame on to the other team and their team is the best and they don't start anything, they are the best nothing to it. I can't stand people like that. Even if you did watch the game I think you need to watch a little closer, A.J. was reaching for his helmet if he was going to be going for Barret don't you think he would have his hand in a fist or some kind of stupid look on his face. All he did was reach down and Barrett was going to go after him for knocking him down. If he didn't want to get hit he should have gotten out of the way. Niether player did anything wrong, it was a clean play, Barrett just over reacted.

As for the "Base Slap", that was a little on the cocky side, but in that situation, there is no telling what anyone else would have done. He just plowed the catcher, and was probably still hyped from the play. Adrenaline is pumping, it happens. Was it rude? Maybe. Did it deserve a sucker punch? HELL NO.

No, cuz you guys haven't stopped. I have been a Sox fan all my life, I wasn't mad that they weren't doing good. I wasn't happy but it wasn't harassing the Cub's fan's that they weren't good or anything when they were in the playoffs. Even when they didn't get that far int he play offs I didn't rub it in the fan's face or anything. The Sox won the WORLD SERIES and the Cub's fan's still can't accept that they Sox are better than the Cub's. I think the Cub's fan's need to grow up and learn that the Sox are doing better than them and just respect them, if they are doing good root for them, don't wish that they would lose or something like that. I know one thing now that I know how rude some of the Cub's fan's can be I am not going to root for them for a long time. They can't even admit that they screw'd up then their fans don't deserve to have the support of the Sox fan's. If the Cub's ever have a winning season in the near future and they beat the Sox for more than one game then you can start talking. The Cub's SUCK and you guys need to accept that. They aren't the worst but they aren't too far away from last place.

Mich I'm with you here!!! This is the most agrevating(sp?) thread on here! My prob with it is both sides(me included) Have honestly no clue what it is like in the majors, so we don't know why they are playing bad or good. And no matter what sox fans are gonna look down on cubs fans. (kinda reverse huh? lol) And cubs fan will always hate the sox!!! But niether side is right.
