Mr. Tune Wrote:Does anyone know what the wheelbase on the LSP is?
LSP Specifications:

Wheelbase: (368mm)
Length: (526mm)
Width: (416mm)
Height: (178mm)
Weight: 9.39lbs (4260g) approx.

Hellfire Specifications:

Wheelbase = 348mm*
Total Length = 513mm
Total Width = 415mm
Total Height = 173mm
Weight = 9.2 lb (ready to run, less fuel)

Reference Wheelbases: Savage = 335mm, 1/8 scale Buggy = 323mm
*Varies with Inboard Toe Setting

So...... the LSP is about 3/4" longer Smile

Eric, the issue I see is when your take one wheel and compress the susension fully. Take the wheel and move it top to bottom like your checking for a blown bearing. The actual wheel moves alot (exactly like a blown out bearing) If you look at where the slop is coming from, you can see that the knuckle moves where its bolted up from the C-hubs. Maybe a steel insert pressed into the hub would cause less slop ? Almost like the hubs stretch out.

I knew the LSP was long, but that's crazy! Does it have the longest wheelbase of the currently available truggies?

The hubs to stretch, but luckly they're cheap.

Roc is right, the front hub carriers stretch, I noticed the drivers side more than the other side.

A little slop in my B main opinion isnt going to affect much... But thats a b mainer talking. I think with the overall power, size, wheel contact patch and weight a slight amount of slop is ok

I just checked mine and it has that slop no matter what position the arms are in Big Grin
They can only streach so far before the cap head screws that hold the knuckle will stop it.
I suppose you could shim the bushing in the c-hub, but then you would probably run the risk of it not turning easy.

I dont think its from the c-hub stretching, it cant really. The cap screws that hold the knuckle in would keep the c-hub from stretching.
I think the bushings in time wear out the c-hub and become longer then the c-hub is thick, which causes play up and down on the bushings. Am I making any sense? lol

In the end, your right George, replacing them might fix it Smile

I found its were the outer hinge pin goes through the c-hub. That hole seems to be were its streching

Eric, Mine are stretching, I have not miked them but the stretched ones look slightly more opened up than a new one. But that was eyeballing it only. We all have seen me drive, so is it really a surprise that I stretched one

Rocco, yeah mine in loose where the pin goes though the c-hub too. I guess its time to replace my C-hubs, hell my whole truck is loose and worn out, except for the new front hinge pin brace, thats the only thing Ive broke since June Big Grin

So I got a chance to look at a Hellfire closely today @ AL's. First thoughts as the body came off, WOW is this thing sweet !!!! Minimum chassis flex and HPI did a awesome job job with the bracing IMO. CVD's all the way around. Nice hard ano job on the chassis, nice folds on the chassis where mudguards would go.
Shock towers are very beefy. Mentioned in the other thread about the bushings for adjustments, (frt toe, kick-up, rearanti-squat, rear toe) Shock shafts are thick too !! Really nice !!!! One thing I didnt like about the truck was access to the RX and battery pack. One side has a clip and the other has a screw. JT pointed out that the spur gear looks alittle thin. Diff access seems fairly easy. steering servo layed down. Frt bracing is excellent. The radio plate is steel and runs from the frt bulkhead to the rear bulkhead. The kit also comes with optional C hubs, shock pistons, bushings and some other misc things. The body on the truck is tight !!! Optional wing mount which I didnt see in the box. 150cc tank. All in all, I think the Hellfire is a top notch truck. The trucks engine mount is even extended for added strength. Gotta hand it to HPI, they did their homework.

The hellfire is real nice. Serious stuff nice. All the blocks where thick ano'd aluminum. the body was cool too. it has 2 front chassis braces up front and that steel radio plate means it aint gonna have flexing issues like the LSP, although it did seem a little shorter than an LSP. Would have to compare lengths. the suspension is top stuff, Titanuim ano'd shafts that look like there 3mm thick, and the bodies are nice ano'd aluminum. has lots of shock adjustment on the towers too. The chassis is hard ano'd and has all the right bends on the sides for strength and protection. Very nice indeed. They are going for $650, you may get them aliitle lower with begs and pleeds tho. AL's said it would have more in on tuesday.
