Works great! Thanks for the idea.
New SubTopic Question:

Which after market pipe is best for the stock 2.5R. I see the Trinity and the Fantom out there. What else have you tried and liked with the stock motor. I'm looking for more bottom end (no jokes please) performance.
I've heard good about the Trinity and Vantage pipes. Also, the RD Logics pipe is supposed to be good too.
The Vantage is pricy vs Trinity IMO and the RD says it's geared toward high end gains (RPM). But this is why I'm asking. Anyone tried the Traxxas 5490 "dyno tuned pipe"?
The Traxxas pipe isn't out yet, but when it is that's the one I'm getting. Tower says early January for the pipe, same for the rear set back a arms for the Revo.
Mich swears by the THS pipe and his truck has really nice bottom end so.... I've also heard the Trinity pipe gives good amounts of power on the bottom, it's too loud for me though.
B5 - those Traxxas pipes are on eBay....?

Tex - Mich has an 18TM. Same results for stock 25R? Where do I look up THS for that pipe?

Thanks
oh yeah, my bad...I forgot you gyts have different motors...hahaha ...no wonder why he has more power.

Have you tried adjusting the LSN for more bottom end Dave? you might get the results you want from tuning your current setup.
B5 thanks, just surfed it up, too. Tower has those Revo pipes too.

Tex, what's tuning? Seriously, yes, have worked the carb for all it's worth. 30% fuel and pipe are next steps (and cheaper steps) instead of looking for new motor. The new radio last night was the last straw on the RC Budget Director!! Anything else has to come under "supplies". Pipe I can hide. New motor I can't.
I am running the Vantage pipe. I love it. I did however make the mistake of getting the one that used the stock header. I imagine the other shows even better power gains. This pipe definitely packs some punch but is not quite up to the trinity as the trinity runs an aftermarket header. I like the trinity but it is REALLY LOUD!!! I am very happy with my vantage one...
Thanks Dan. I'm ok with loud. The Trinity header kinda looks like the stock one, shapewise. I suspect there are some subtle diff's. I know the OS header looks very much like the Traxxas header, except doesn't bolt on, uses springs.
Yeah... I am not going to lie about the vantage having more power. The vantage pipe with the stock header has less power than the trinity pie and trinity header. (And normally I don't have a problem with loud but these things aproach pipe-less loud)
Maybe they are running with out the restrictor in the stinger. Their website shows that it comes with a removeable restrictor for use with small blocks.
The header is less restrictive also. Either way it is LOUD!
loud is good
im running a trinity pipe/header and it its very loud.the trinity header is MUCH thicker than the stock flimsy one. I do have the stinger still in it because it says that if your running small block that you should leave it in. i believe that if you take it out it will reduce backpressure causing an inconsistent tune. i was going to try taking it out but i never got to it. if i do happen to remove it i will let you know how it goes.
I finally broke down and tore apart the Revo tonight to try setting it up better for the track. I was a little frustrated yesterday, when we were at the track, because the truck had a bit too much push in the corners. Since I got it used, I had no idea what the previous owner had done. I Swapped out the Stock Diff grease (at least it looked like grease) to fresh oils, 30k front/10k rear. Since I had it apart, I replaced the shock oils, 35wt all around. I have a Trinity pipe on order, and I will be changing out the tire foams to either Trinity or Racers Edge.
IMHO the stock rods should be plenty strong. The red aluminum ones just look like eye candy to me. I'd replalce with stock if I were you, save money for other things.
I think the red turnbuckles are lighter than the stock but for the pushrods are about the same. (And I broke one after never breaking a stock one)

Nuh unh....The stock pr's are heavier than the red ones...by alot.... Big Grin
yep Aluminum is way lighter than steel. (that's a given)

Also instead of the steel stockers breaking like the AL ones, they just bend...I'm running bent stockers right now...

IMO definitely upgrade
Wow... Then I was way off. They looked thicker and to me it fealt like they were a tad lighter but not much at all. I definitely could be wrong. (And I have never bent one and already broke one...)
i think the aluminum red rods are thicker. i think they are stronger. i've bent one of the stock ones already. maybe i just drive it hard.
The aluminum pushrods are lighter (31grams) and stronger than the stockers. While they will take a harder hit without any damage when compared against the stockers, they won't bend when enough force is applied, they break in two.

It takes a pretty good impact to break one though, like hit a curb just right at like 15mph or more.
