mich, do u have to do mods to your radio box cause i cant see the whole pack but it looks like its a hump pack....
so i was thinking....sh1nn3r and i were talking at lh last fri and i was wondering about how much do the carbs from a tm cost and where could i get one pretty cheap.
Ok, a good question, I think anyway.....

Without taking them apart, how can you tell if you Revo diff's need service? Mine dont have unusual noises or roughness, but the outdrives have a fair amount of what I would call wobble, or free play that allows the driveshafts to move around about centerline. Could this be bearings?

Thanks!
Might be the case getting loose around teh bearings...But I'm not sure what youre saying lmao
Dave have you checked the wheel bearings? those like to go every once and awhile
i dont have any radio boxes. Those have been gone for at least a year now. I just have it zip tied to the chassis were the one steering servo goes. Its on the front right side. And my reciever is ballooned and zip tied above the battery.

The wobble or looseness is right at the cases, where the outdrives attach the yokes on the shafts to the diff. Maybe there is just a lot of slop in the yoke area?
I guess taking it apart is required.

Next question, who sells a quality bearing kit for the Revo and what does it go for?
they dont sell bearing kits as far as i know but for a buck you can get some best bearings out there from http://www.avidrc.com Just look through the book and see how many of each you need and then purchase them. There very high quality. I have them through out my entire truck.
My guess would be the bearings Dave. Or the diff case has worn out alittle.

And you do have the little tab holding the diff case down installed right ?
They have a very interesting pricing system there....The Dollar Store.

Yet strangely their stickers are 75 cents, hmmmmm.

Thanks, Ryan.

It's not apart, but looking at the rebuild directions, I am wondering it some slop is natural becuase of the setpin connection of the yokes to the gearshaft?
Some is alright.....still best to take them apart and check it out.
Have you done any maintence to the diffs lately ? If not, maybe its time to take a look at the fluid. =)
Maintenance, what's that? I fix broken stuff.....when it breaks.
Seriously, I am way overdue for the first ever PM's on the diffs. I was planning on fluid tuning the rear diff while I was in there.
The way I maitence my diffs are new cases every 2 gallons, and about every gallon replace the diff cup and seals. My setup is 30 up front, 10 in the rear. So far my spider gears are still original from 2 years ago, and my big ring gear gets anywere from 5-10 gallons before it breaks. Check the bearings, change the case and cup and seals. And before you install it back on the truck make sure the mesh between all the gears are good. No clicking or binding. It should be able to turn and be completly smooth.
Is there any benefit to metal diff cases OR diff carrier?
i havent found one except a higher price in parts. You still have to regularly maitence those as well. Reason i stuck with stock was because 4 bucks for a new cup with seals, and 4 bucks for a brand new diff case. So for under 20 bucks you can have 2 completly rebuilt diffs that will last gallons. Think about it, you drive about 4-5 tanks on a race day. Practice maybe about 6 tanks. So think of it as once a once you should rebuild your diffs. I always do mine at about the gallon mark. Never have any kind of diff problems. Never lost a race either because of a diff.
Sold me, stock repair parts it is!
ryan quit drinking gasoline
hes not drinking gas he only drinks 30% nitro
I'm with ryan, no need for metal diff cups. Stock stuff works great!

I'm with ryan right now too, riding in cars with boys, watching notebook on the screens
