I've always raced with a pullstart, no problems if your motor is tuned ok. I now have a starter box but I just got it.
Oh... Ok then. I kind of like the ease of the EZ start. Is it worth looking into a rotostart or should I just suck it up and go back to a PS??

And was I correct in assuming it is bad to race with an EZstart?? If so why? Is it just the weight?

Thanks for the help. :-)
Probably weight, and reliability....
Gotcha... I have heard thing such as it will kill your motor or sieze up on you and cause you to ruin the motor. Are those things true or no?
Tex Wrote:you can get a used Air359 for around $60.

Gabe, Where?!!
gotta just check B/S/T's on grid, UE, etc...

Actually I'll sell you mine that's on steering in my Revo for $60, I'm personally not all that impressed with it. I'll just go back to the JR650z which I think it a better servo
Go JR650's! I run them for steering in both of my trucks and it works great.
Let's play a game... It's called figure out what I brok on my Revo before I take it apart...

Here's what happened. I'm flying through the snow and I hear this pop.crack noise and it stops moving. I took the motor out and if I roll it backward and foreward it will go either way about 6-8 inches and then the wheels lock up. I looked at the front and rear diffs real quick and don't think it is them. The spur gear will spin freel'y one way but locks up in the direction it should move the wheels in. So my conclusion is obviously something in the trans. (is it time to go FOC???) So... what do you think it is specifically... if you can have any idea and how big of a pain will it be to replace?? And I am pretty sure I need to remove the skid I just installed to get the trans out right?? ugh...
Hey FRJ check your driveshafts-specifically the center ones-I broke one of mine and it did what you describe yours doing.
All right... I didn't look into those. I know the four are ok but I didn't check the middle 2. You know what now that you say that I remember the back one looking weird... How much of the splines should be showing?? (It's in the garage and it's cold out) I remember seeing a lot (1/2 - 3/4 of an inch) I thought it looked weird but figured I would check it out later and left.
You know I just went and looked... the driveshafts look good. Everything externally is spinning fine. I think it's in the trans. I just didn't want to bother with taking off the whole ti skid right now and taking it apart. I am hoping it is something that get's eliminated with the FOC. If it is I will do that right away...
Hmm....Alright....That's what I thought it would have been....Try and take 1 front wheel and one back wheel and turn one of the free ones and make sure that the opposite free one spins too....Hope that made sense lol...
So hold right rear and left front, spin the right fron and see if the left rear spins?? It won't... the trans keeps seizing. (I think it's the trans) I will probably just have to take it apart when I have some time...
Ok then, that's what I wanted to know.....Yeah, sorry to say you can have fun and tear down the truck....Woo hoo for me it's a whole 7 screws....(4 tranny screws, brake linkage(1), driveshafts(2)...)
As this is "general Revo discussion" I will ask my usual stupid question.

R2k, I tried the cross corner spin tire test and saw that it does spin back thru the trans, but my question is this...As FRJ mentioned that he couldn't rotate the spur thru the trans to turn the wheels, did the cross corner test diagnose anything that turning the spur wouldn't and if so how? Would it isolate the trans or a bad driveshaft? I'm not sure....
Has anyone done any diff tuning w/ different weights??
Tex has mentioned his ownership of various diff fluids before so I'll wager he has.
Ahhhh... this sucks. So who wants to help me put it back together when I can't remember where everything goes??
Traxxas website for exploded diagrams/downloads

Both of these are transmission related.

:bustingup
I have the exploded diagrams in the manual. Personally... I hate them. Too many small lines and stuff always seems to overlap magically... I learn better by taking it apart and trying to put it back together the same way. If I screw up then I ask someone who knows to show me...

And this one is diff rebuild with notes about diff fluid and results from changes in weights.

And what can I do to make it run better in the snow. I am running maxx tires backwards out back and mayhem tires the right way up front... It seemed like it would plow and then the front tires would pile up snow in front of the rear tires and it would go nowhere. Any suggestions?? (besides buying paddles and skis) I have 2 sets of maxx tires, 1 set of sportmax tires and 1 set of stock revo tires to work with...

Thanks

Take tons of digipix as you go. And set the parts down on something in the order they came out in, noting fronts and backs of each part. Or bag and tag as you go.

Tackle the transmission first, then the Amb Big Grin
