Check and make sure its an AMB transponder too.
If it is the Orion system it will not work with AMB. Orion uses an Infrared light system to count laps. Here's the data from Orion site.
________________________________________________
The lap-counting unit (receiver) uses Infra-red (IR) light to communicate with the vehicle transmitting unit.
· Counts lap times within 1/100th of a second
· LCD backlit display, displays best lap, individual lap times, total race time.
· Adjustable target lap time.
· Sound signal to indicates: start , each lap, best lap, laps under target time, end of the practice.
· 100 different transponders available, counting system can be adjusted to work with any transponder.

36000 PRO Lap Counting System
36010 Additional transponder
36020 PC Link + Software

Patented by Alex Racing in Europe, USA and Japan.

http://www.teamorion.com/faq/pro_lcs.asp for all the details. Make an informed choice before you buy. Education is a great thing. Stay in school. Learn something new every day. Some of these guys have been in RC longer than I've been alive (ok that's an exaggeration).
