Kyosho AWD Mini-Z
#1
Press Release:
Kyosho, the world's leading manufacturer of radio control cars, reinvents the Mini class with the introduction of the new AWD Mini-Z. The new chassis, dubbed the MA-010, features an inline shaft-drive system that will elevate the performance of the Mini-Z to a whole new level. The added traction of AWD means it gets through corners more quickly and is able to run on surfaces that would easily trap a 2WD mini. The extra traction of the AWD is even further enhanced with new four-wheel independent suspension. The AWD Mini-Z also features many drivetrain improvements that make it even more efficient and the electronics have been upgraded.
The AWD Mini-Z goes back to its roots with the Skyline R34 body - the first shell offered on the Mini-Z when it was introduced. As the first AWD super car, it's fitting that it's once again installed on the first AWD Mini-Z.

• Shaft-driven AWD
The spur gear is mounted on a central drive shaft, which powers front and rear gear differentials. All the gears of the drive system and differentials are specially designed for maximum efficiency and durability. Even greater efficiency is accomplished by adding standard universal-joint driveshafts at all corners. Finally, ball bearings supporting the differentials make this machine almost as efficient as the 2WD machines.

• 4-wheel Independent suspension
Each corner of the AWD Mini-Z has kingpin-type independent suspension with coil-over springs, which means it soaks up the bumps better than ever. The universal-joint driveshafts keep everything running smooth even when the suspension is moving up and down.

• Upgraded electronics
The Mini-Z has a fully proportional electronic speed control with super-smooth acceleration, braking and reverse. The transmitter is full size for comfortable control, and its digital proportional, which means the signals are processed digitally. That means you have one of the most precise control systems available for high quality RC cars. The AWD Mini-Z features an RA-12 receiver/amplifier unit that handles 30-percent more power than the previous model, which helps to handle the extra power demands of an AWD system and optional motors.

• Adjustable front and rear toe angle
The new suspension and steering system of the AWD Mini-Z also allow adjustment of the front and rear toe angles. This simple tuning option results in better handling on any type of surface.

• Huge selection of bodies
The AWD Mini-Z is initially available with the legendary Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V Spec, but you also have the choice of many other bodies already made for the MR-01 and MR-015 chassis.

Experience the excitement of AWD with the world-famous quality and scale appearance that is only available from Kyosho. The new AWD Mini-Z is the complete package for the Mini-Z performance enthusiast and it retains all of the features that make it the most popular line of mini cars in the world.

The budget-conscious world is the only world I can think of. By the time you "mod" an Xmod to match the MiniZ you pay the same. If you just want a simple true RC mini, Xmods are tough to beat for $49. But it will be a 2wd, slow, poor handling RC mini, at that.

I'm thinking about a micro RS4, just to keep it all in the HPI family. Tinley runs mini's in the fall-winter. Don't know if Intense will.
