In my current camaro I tagged just over 150 on the power tour this year running with a group in Alabama early in the morning. It was a green 96 vette, black 98 vette, an Lt1 firebird, a 67 stang (he droped off at 135 though) and the sickest in the group was a built to hell 408ci LS1 C5 silver vette Which I found out later put down 452hp at the wheels.

We took off into this huge gap in traffic (nobody in front of us for as far as we could see). Around 140mph the green 96 C4 vette, stock black C5 vette and I way out ahead and had just started to let off and slow. Then damn guy in the built silver vette who hung way back when everyone else took off caught up fast. The 96 vette saw him and gave him the open lane on the left and this guy in the silver vette slowed down to our speed Then got back into it. I also got back in the throttle but that silver vette drove away from me with ease and even worse as he did he waved byebye!!! After that I let off and coasted and I've barley broken 100mph since then. When I did it it felt like nothing but afterwards I remember how light the front end felt and how twitchy it felt when I got back in it at 140mph. Scary stuff but when it was happeneing it was all adrenaline.

Also what was really crazy was later on I at the next stop I ran into that sick Vette and he said he caught up to us cruising around 160 then slowed to our speed. when he waved byebye he said he stayed in it until he cracked a little over 180 and with the way he dissapeared I believe it.

As long as you drive normal at the speed limit, you know Legal and such with current tags, cops didn't give a crap. A couple times when they would follow a car to get pictures of it or see thcar up close. Heck some of the towns the cops were hanging out at the gas stations just to chit chat with everyone. One of the cops said, "There are 2000-3000 nice cars running thorugh here. We are more worried about the traffic and residents getting pissed off and causing problems more than anyhitng else."

Yeah, i was kinda wondering about that, but didn't want to say anything. There is a car that was built by sound performance that ran [email protected], that was fully suped up here is the link
http://www.sound-performance.com/project.html. So i don't think 200mph, maybe 200 km/h which is about 125mph.

I was thinking 200km also, not MPH.

And people keep referencing "governers" as "rev limiters". Sup wit dat?

Roc, I think I did go a little faster in my dakota passing on the shoulder, probably 110, but those days are long gone. actually its just a little harder to dart thru traffic in a silverado.

governers and rev limiters cut fuel at a certian rpm or speed. it's dependent on the speed rating of your tires. my dads f-150 is limited to 98 mph, i know the truck can go faster but if it did the tires would probably harry carry on him. also most of them are in the computer now a days, so you have to buy a $300 power programmer to disable them.

yes, I'm aware of all that Tommy, I was just wondering why you were saying my rev limiter is at 120mph or whatever when that is your governer. A rev limiter cuts out at a certain RPM

I buried my Lebaron at 85 plenty of times, But I haven't toped out the Jeep yet. One of hte spookier trips though was on a trip to Tennessee while running through Alabama or Arkasas I was running 80+ in my Jeep with my sister, our parents, and our luggage on board, in a construction zone, getting passed like I was standing still in heavy traffic then see a sign that read "Dynamite in use, Please turn off all radios and cell phones. Thank You"

Computer controls suck!! My Nissan won't let me set the cruise any higher than 107mph.....hold down that "accel" button on your cruise control until it stops going higher to find out yours !

Yea, my Jeep should be limited to 112mph and if I remember right even the cop ones were limited to that for liabilty reasons. Although the slightly taller tire I now should help hte situation......

Well my 00 Eclipsed had a fuel cut off at 137 mph, which on many trips to NIU was engaged. It sucks too. Have to wait like 15 minutes after reseting the switch.

I was really doubting the time as well... but not so much the 200 mph. Although it is highly unlikely... with a LOT of room and a fair bit of work it can get there. This is one I would like to see a list of mods as well as a dyno slip or track slip... Rolleyes

I once went 110 mph on lake shore drive with a friend. It's a funy story. Myself and my friend Rob were going home from his girlfriends who was my girlfriends (now my wife) bestfriend. Well, we were heading home from the northside to the southside and she was following us going to pick up her mom who work at millers pub. We're both sitting at the light at hollywood waiting to get on. When the light turn green she hit it, my friend and I were in a dodge Citation and she was in a buick I think, I cant remember. Anyway, we're flying down LSD and right at about the point he hits 100 he turns to me and says "Dude grab my glasses outta my shirt pocket I cant see!". So I grab his glasses and they are as thick as coke bottle bottoms! At this point I am now panicked fumbling with the seat belt certain I'm now going to die. Needless to say we survived and and didnt thankfully get pulled over.
