Ponch Wrote:Man you gotta slam that sukka! Ridin high right now...
But the paint looks better than you made it sound... Too hard on yourself.
It is tall.....but not that tall. The pic makes it look DAMN TALL. Actual clearance is 2-3/4".....a bit high. I would prefer about 2-1/2". I think that If I buy a 4" shock like the new LOSI CRAWLER SHOCKS....then I would drop about 1/2 inch....been tempted to try them.....but gonna ride what I got for this comp....see where I might need a change. At practice, I did not have any issues with side-hilling, or steep climbs. So I think that I will leave it as is until after the 4/5/2008 comp. "Wrench Day" will be more of a practice day.
Oh, I just meant the body itself might be lowered. Truck is probably fine for ride height, mine is at 2.5" right now, I was going to go up a bit though.
That body looks good Josh :joy: Paint looks just fine, the guy that painted my Nissan body most likely hates me for doin what i've done to mine! lol Sorry Jerry!

Unless you know someone that picked one up with his 3rd place Gift Card last comp, that might borrow it to you And unless you wire a switch before the bec, youll have to live with it turning on. Oh and it was $25. LOL
I always cut my switches off my esc's. I always plug in the battery to turn the truck on. Just had to many issues where your bumping along and the switch gets knocked off. I have enough issues with leaving my radio on all the time, it's nice to know the truck is off.
I've been working on building a new rig chances are though the same old one will be run.
Zach, redid the paint and installed some rock rings on his truck for a fresher look.
We might bring the supers for some after comp abuse.
Interested to see this add on to the course.
I know it seems like we have toned you guys out for a while. The fact it we really wish we were able to make every comp, we have just had to work every comp day up till now.
dont expect a huge adittion yet... I basically just removed that useless valley and made that area usable. We are supposed to be building a decent sized addition, just waiting for someone to get the design approved by the owner (I wonder who that could be....)
Thing is, with this gay xl-5 esc, there's a built in push button switch to turn it on. Kinda retarted.
Oh and I just thought about this...Aren't the servos getting 6V without the CC bec?
With it, and since I can't change the settings yet, it's set to 5v. So really, by installing it, I just cut down power to my servos??? I think I'm a dumbass.
Most built in bec's provide 5v at 1-2 amps the CC starts at around 5.3v (cant remember for sure) and goes up past 6v (link required) and can provide up to 10 amps power. The benifit you get from the CC BEC is more amps to provide more torque, voltage controls speed (mainly) its the amps that do the work. Also, the CC BEC is keeping you from overloading you esc during a comp (I know from experience). With it your ESC will actually run cooler because you are demanding as much from it... at least my MM did. If you want I can loan you a link cable or you can run by my place some evening and program it.
Well I gotta figure out now why my motor is getting so freakin hot. After about 10 mins of driving you can smell it and can't touch it. I put a tc alum heat sink on it and it didn't help at all. I have a integy 45t. Maybe the motor needs rebuilt or just get a new one lol. My esc is a tekin rebel 2 and is in great shape. I don't think it is that. The battery is a homemade ib 4200 6 cell

I am new to electrics....but could it be as simple as the pinion/spur being tooooooo tight???
your right that is a cause of heat! I wish that was the cause though. I have the mesh set perfect. I've mastered the whole mesh thingy with 3 t-maxxes under my belt lol. And I know it's not overgeared lol. I'm runnin a 87t spur and a 14 or 12 (can't remember) pinion
I'm gonna check the brushes as I know that's a cuuse too. I have some layin around but they a re pro brushes. Good for about 10 runs lol. Nasty power but eat the hell outta comms
Jeff if ya want I got a 65t ya can try? I might trade ya for the 45t? I'm gonna build a rock racer anyway so the 45t might be good? Or maybe my 12t single would be better? LMFAO! And just to think that stratcat was out of control! hehe

Yea I might have to try another motor. I'm not sure if it's that or my batteries. But I don't see why the batts would heat the motor up and not the esc

Resistors on the motor maybe??? I am just guessing....If it was Nitro, I would be of more help. I will have a Novak 55T with me if you want to try that as well on Saturday.

Whats your gearing like? Those motors rarely wear out as they spin at such a low RPM but it does happen. Does your drivetrain roll freely?
