Come on someone needs my amp......

I have to get rid of it....
I was wondering what a good, cheap setup would be for a single cab, 1984 Toyota pickup would be?

Im gonna be crusing around mostly listening to cds only really cause the radio sucks..

Im probably gonna be thrashing this truck too offroad a little with my buds, so I need something durable..

Dont need big subs or a huge fancy system..Something around $250 or so with a cd player, maybe door speakers, maybe something i can fit behind the back seat and the back of the cab

Thanks
well the thing that comes to mind to me thats cheap is stuff at wal mart lol
really so 10" will be better for rock music? ok then thats an easy solution.
FreeRideJunkie Wrote:Tex I GUARANTEE you can get all the bass you could ever want with one 10" Alpine Type R, JL Audio W3V2 or W3V3, an Adire Audio Brahma

I said with quality stuff you would get the bass, read my post again.
Eracer76 Wrote:Tex.....remember how good my SRT-4 sounded?
I think I remember you guessing that it had a couple 10's or 12's when you heard it...until I showed you what it was LOL
I had just one 8" JL Audio 8W7 with the JL 500/5 five channel amp running the whole system which is just 250w to the sub...

Now I have the system in my little Crossfire SRT-6, and its even better Smile

I said with quality it would sound good! read up fellas......I was simply saying "don't just tell people all they need is one 10" " because they will go out and buy a single $79 sub and think it's going to hit.
FreeRideJunkie Wrote:Don't get a bigger sub because it is only $25 more..... get it because it fits the kind of music you are going to listen to. For him to build a ported box for that 12" it would need to be quite a bit larger than a ported box for the 10". With space kind of at a premium in a truck, the 10" will more than suffice. There would not be that big of a difference anyway. 10's are the way to go.
The box i would spec for the twelve would be smaller than what he is using now if i got my measurements right. And the transiant response on the twelve is just as good as it is on the ten also. so one thing most people dont look at is the t/s specs and try to understand what they mean

twelve would hit harder and be just as responsive as the ten

Confusedalute: there we go! I can get a 18" sub that will be more respsonive than 90 percentof the subs on the market because of how its designed. or i can get a 10inch sub that is the most muddy piece of crap

Why dont people understand that???
Koz, do you make and cover boxes, and install them in cars/trucks? How much do you want to do this? I know it would differ from case to case, but give me a base price please.

I can make the box starting at 55 (3/4inch mdf uncarpeted) all the way to walling off part of your car. an install depends on if everything is ready to be ran etc so prolly 40 for complete install aslong as you have all the parts needed
so do boxes have to be carpeted? koz are you telling me that a box that u would build for a 12" would be smaller than one for a 10"?

boexes dont have to be carpeted but people like them carpeted since they look alot better. the box size depends on what you want to acheive. a sealed box for a 12 is going to be smaller than a tuned box for lets say 33 hertz on a 10
so is the 10" gonna sound better with a bigger box?

not exactly what kind of ten? what kind of music do you like? and how much power can you aucually give the sub
well i was going with the alpine type-r 10" i havent picked an amp yet. got any suggestions? i like rock and a little bit of rap. also is a power cap needed?

id go with either the alpine mrd1005 or the 605 i have the same set up in a 1.7 cube box tuned to 35 hertz and it is pretty nice you can ask freeride about it
so both of those amps would only power the sub right?

yep

I know what you said, I never said you were wrong.
Believe me, I know you need quality to have good sound, especially with just one sub, thats why I have what I have.
I was just asking if you remember mine....Smile
yeah, I remember yours, it's totally a kick arse system. Sound quality was amazing.
DMR--- His system SLAMS. That one 10" in a ported box (which I'm sure can be crammed in there, will hit hard and fast for rock but still roll pretty nice with some rap. You should be more than happy. (I used to doubt the Type-R..... he made me a believer. LoL)
