how much would u charge to build a single 10"? im guessing that this price wont include the wood? how much is that around?
You are not going to have the sound you are after with (1) 10" unless you have REALLY expensive/good stuff.

I would suggest telling these guys what subs/amp would be good if your suggesting a (1) sub setup. If they go out and buy the wrong stuff they are not going to get the results they want.

oh and a kicker panel is a speaker/box that mounts on the lower part of the door by the floorboard.
I have this amp brand new, with birth certificate and all never out of the box. These are more powerful than what they advertise, great amp for running a sub.

$130 and it is anyone that wants it.
I got a pyle 1600 watt 2 channel amp.
dmr, If you want just 1 sub I would go with http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/pr...=SWR-1222D. If you go looking through stores online and looking at feedback just about everyone says this sub just hits hard and clean.

For a good amp to match it I would get http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/pr...l=MRD-M605. Again look through car audio websites and all reviews say this amp delivers plenty of power for hard hitting bass. Seems to be a good combo.

You could get that all for about 300 new. A box wouldnt be hard to make at all for just a single sub. That would probly cost you around 50 bucks if you do it yourself or if you contact Koz im sure he can build ya a single box for a good price.
Tex I GUARANTEE you can get all the bass you could ever want with one 10" Alpine Type R, JL Audio W3V2 or W3V3, an Adire Audio Brahma, there are tons of options. Koz had a single 10" setup in his mazda that would almost hurt when it was cranked. My Brahma, in an undersized box, still slams extremely hard.

The best bang for the buck is going to be with the Alpine Type-R though. Since I am away at school I can't really build boxes right now. Ian (Koz) will do great work and has a very quick turnaround time as well. I would even be willing to bet that if you got ahold of him he could get you the box made and then get a Type-R and Amp installed and wired up ready to drop in your truck for one total price. Maybe send him a PM on that.

Again, that Type-R (yes just a 10") in a nice ported box will be more than enough.
That amp that Mich posted is a nice one as well. I believe Koz is running that or something very similar from Alpine to power his setup. I will probably be making a new box for my sub over Thanksgiving or Christmas break.
If you want a box PM me I have a turnaround of a few hours on the weekends!
The price all depends on complexity, size (amount of wood), and carpeting

The MRD-1005 would be very very good for your two subs and i would look for one on ebay because you go to almost anyshop and you'll pay almost 500 for it when you can get a brand new in box factory sealed one for 300 shipped

And time for another shameless plug The type R is a very very nice sub but it needs more than 500 watts rms to really start impressing people
Screw you all JL Audio W7! Nough said! J/k I had 3 Type R's and a 1500 watt MTX amp in my neon and I managed to crack the front windshield, I can attest to their quality!

Exactly. That's why I figured a Type-R in a nice ported box, that 600 Watt alpine ampe and he should be more than happy.

W7 can bend over. They are nice subs but really really expensive. When I build a new box for my Brahma I will almost bet it will stand right with the 10W7 at half the price. 3 Type-R's had to be insane if they really were getting 500 watts each. I am still waiting to hear the new 2 type-r setup I believe Koz is working on...

thats the 1000 at 2 ohms i have the 600 at 2 ohms
I wanted the mrd1005 just cant find one for what im wanting to spend
If i was gona spend that much i would get a Ia20.1
Yeah the 600 watt one was linked earlier. That 1000 watt one has to be one crazy little beast.

i saw the 1005 linked but go check out the specs on the Incriminator Audio 20.1 im thinking about getting it for the special sub i have lined up
Tex.....remember how good my SRT-4 sounded?
I think I remember you guessing that it had a couple 10's or 12's when you heard it...until I showed you what it was LOL
I had just one 8" JL Audio 8W7 with the JL 500/5 five channel amp running the whole system which is just 250w to the sub...

Now I have the system in my little Crossfire SRT-6, and its even better Smile
ok so the general census says the 10" alpine type r. i think im still gonna go with the pioneer head unit i linked earlier. im still in the air about amp(s) and speakers. im not too sure if i have front and rear speakers, but i do know that i have one speaker towards the front of the door and one towards the rear maybe thats front/rear idk. and if i have koz build me a box how much clearance should i have from the front of the box and the back of my seat?
the 12 inch is only like 25 dollars more so I would just get that. Thats just me tho
Don't get a bigger sub because it is only $25 more..... get it because it fits the kind of music you are going to listen to. For him to build a ported box for that 12" it would need to be quite a bit larger than a ported box for the 10". With space kind of at a premium in a truck, the 10" will more than suffice. There would not be that big of a difference anyway. 10's are the way to go.
back some years ago when I was upgrading stereo and speakers in my Intrepid. I wanted to go with 2 12's in a sealed box. The guy at the audio store asked what kind of music I listen too. I was replied Rock and he told me that I would be better with 2 10's because of how the bass drums are faster than in rap music. I ended up with a set of MTX's in a sealed box with a Phoenix Gold amp. Was there any truth to this guys explaination ???? The system did sound great in the car.
This was back in 95.... MTX's were consider good speakers and Phoenix GOld amps were good at that time too.
There sure was truth to that. He prolly could have easily sold you the 12s which are gonna cost more than 10s, but he didn't. He sold you what would sound best for your music. Guys like that are hard to come by these days. Everyone is out to make a quick buck...

Also, phoenix gold was really good back then. Kick arse amps IMO. I have no idea how they are now, or if they are even around anymore. I've been out of the audio craze for almost 8 years now.
It sounded good because it was in an intrepid...
Definite truth to that. MTX were very nice back then, as were PG amps. (I have a nice older PG 4 channel amp still) Sounds like you had the perfect setup for what you wanted to listen to.
Cool......
