huh? im thinking the berian sea doesnt really have "summer" weather, even by chicago standards
I lived in Anchorage for 8 years and in south Alaska there is 2-3 months of "summer" which is about 60-70F. In Fairbanks it gets to 80-85F which is closer to central Alaska (yes it gets hotter in central AK).
Out at sea it's much colder even in the summer months. Probably around 40-50F or so max. With water splashing all over you 50F is cold.

I remember one of my buddies in school approaching me with a plan in 1992 or so. He had friends up in Alaska in the fishing business and could get us on a boat. We'd be at sea for a couple months, bust our buts and come home 10 grand richer. I seriously considered it, but took a pass. Good thing because the boat he was on sank. The catch was soo good that it was overloaded and capsized and went straight to Davy Jones' locker. Poor guys.

Ya know its been so long I just dont remember all the details. I tried to search for it, but no luck.
I searched again. It just does not go back that far. But if you do a search like fishing boat sinks students or something, you find similar and more recent events. Very dangerous.
