SSSSWWWWEEEETTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :leghump: :headbang:
I have a four shock setup for now that I am not sure if it will hold up to jumps. It is stock traxxas shocks with big bore shock caps, 70wt oil, and 8.5lb springs. I had it jumping maybe like a foot jump a couple days ago and nothing happened.

I plan on getting UE shocks when i get the money.

Are there going to be big jumps at the bash or what?
HUGE!!!

I hope at least. They said a backflip ramp was being made, so that'll be good sized and almost straight up Big Grin
LOL

So does that mean my shocks aren't going to hold up?
yes! .....the only reason why your shocks won't hold are because you have thick oil and stiff springs. You WANT the chassis to bottom out after bigger jumps, it's supposed to. My truck bottoms out off 2ft jumps...lol ....I run softer suspension for racing though. When I bashed I had a setup more like yours.

Although knowing what i know now I won't run that stiff of a suspension ever again for any reason. Truck just doesn't handle as good. I like the center of gravity as low as possible.
^^^ listen to the man!! at the showdown i was running a very stiff susp. on my losi! tex told me to drop it and run it very loose, i did and there was a very big difference in handling! will never run a stiff susp again.

Tex has a very good point, it depends on what your into. I ran super stiff springs for big jumps and bashing only...works great. If you driving style is more like general racing..you will not like how it handles.

Keep in mind w/ a 4 shock truck you will need thicker oil and somewhat stiffer springs compared to an 8 shock truck. Generally you will also want to run a little bit higher rate spring in the rear to compensate for the engine wieght (especially if your running a mid or big block)
I always ran 4 shock setups on my maxx's .....50wt oil, Trinity black springs in rear and light blues up front. (Trinity springs)

OR if you have a LRM (around 9lbs or under) and run the UE supershocks, red in back and whites in front. (UE springs)

Keep in mind these are more of a racer type of setup.
I plan on getting the UE shocks. My truck is somewhere in the low 8's high 7's. I am waiting for leisure hours to open to finally get on a track.

So should I put 30 wt oil back in there and run the stiff springs or leave the 70wt and put the stock red springs on?

I probably won't respond to this because I am going out for the weekend. I might be able to get on a computer though.
I don't know what springs and oil you should use, I would have to see and test your truck. You definitely DO NOT want stiff springs with light oil, BOUNCY BOUNCY like Tigger from whinny the pooh
Then I will proably leave the heavy ones in the back and put the red ones in the front.
the back flip jump is going to be 2'-6" L, 2'-0" H, and 3'-0"W. it cant be straight up or you will flip and land on top uf the ramp. we are looking at about 10* at the top. i took the specs from the skate park ramp in the "big air" vidio.
I'm at 9.4lbs RTR (4) UE shocks, 65wt oil- UE blue rear, UE red in front

chit i can vouch for the bouncyness os that kind of set up...ask any one who saw my maxx at the old lesure track...if you just pushed down on it the recoil could almost put it in the air!
ya i can attest to that. That thing would bounce, throw gas tanks, strip spur gears ect. All he had to do was just change the springs like mentioned above. Geez tony why do you have to be so difficult lol jk.
meh no wories about that know...i have some knolage in set up know...no more tmaxx
^ this is where we would make fun of tonys spelling but it's old!! that maxx was bouncy as hell though, i remember when he changed it to a 4 shock set-up! he ended up blowing out all 4 shocks, soon after he got the big bore shocks!! wow memories. . .
dude i had a 4 shock set up way befor i even new you....chit way befor you probly even new what R/C was!

I dont think my wife is coming to this, she didnt show much interest in it. But I may bring along my buddie. So it would be my son and I and a friend.
Its going to be freezing this Saturday. Its only supposed to be like in the 40's or 50's.

I still plan on coming, but I am going to be dropped off and all of my stuff is just going to be in the open. Is it going to be ok for it to get cold(fuel, batteries, engine is going to be hard to start)
