I wonder how they trigger the shutter release. I know there are the infared triggers, but I think they are only good up to 20 ft or so.

Since they're using an airplane style controler, they may have a servo positioned in a way that would allow an arm to hit the button to snap the pics, and operate that off one of the toggle switches.
