speaking of revo smallblock options, don't get the 3.3. Maybe try this new SH 2.5 but don't waste your money on a motor that will just blow up within a SHORT XXX amount of time.

My 3.3 blew a rear bearing and the rod. I know how to tune, speaking of that, Michowski, I tune your motors because you need help. Also me and you were side by side down the strait in STL with the 3.3's....This EBTZ I have now is faster, I'll take you up on the drag race, or track race whatever Smile

yeah im getting so sick of these dang traxxas motors. i was at the track and my truck was super rich to where it bogged a little and it was hitting 300*....andf i took the temp with an $80 temp gun. so its not the temp gun

I dont know if its ok to drive your omtor when its hitting 300 with plenty of smoke or not?? maybe i have an air leak but i doubt it

Tune for performance and smoke... Not temp

well just cuz ur temp gun says 300 dont mean chit, 80$ or not it could be wrong....you need to tune by sound and "feel" this isnt the easiest thing in the world. make sure you have a good steady idle and that the low end is snappy but will load up after 20 seconds or so and when u are at WOT make sure that it isnt starving for fuel or whinning out...make sure there is good smoke at full throttle and throughout the whole powerband. if it temps at 300* runs well and has good smoke just leave it

Yeah... My Novarossi 528 3 port will not run (literally) below 250-260

And thats with an extregen(sp?) gun ... AKA the best...

After a hard run main temps in the 290's+ dont surprise me... But it has power and smoke... Starts ,idles and screams ... So screw the temps!

yeah well i just have gotten so reliable to tuning by temps........but, I know why i was running so hot....my gasket was torn and forming an air leak.

is that really an air leak? serious question lol

tuning by temp is probably the worst way to tune, use temps as a reference point more than a tuning aid

well its not really an air leak....but what its doing is the pipe maniflod is not making a direct contact to the engine with that on, nd when I had the body off i revved the engine, and I had smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and where the exhaust manifold or header attaches to the motor.

yeah i tune mainly by feel and sound, but lately i have been really worried about temps, but like rocco said, screw 'em

an exhaust leak is almost as bad as a carb leak when it comes to running hot and tuning issues.
