Bashing = Savage. That is all.

If you will be racing at all get the revo 3.3. IMO there is no longer a place for the T-maxx...

Savage all the way!
I owned one of the old ones, a Savage 25. All I did to it, was rebuild the diffs with 4 spider gears, which is stock now, upgraded the breaks, and got the heavy duty drive shafts.
I bashed that truck hard for a full year with a Picco .26 in it. I used to jump that thing 20' in the air and not land perfect everytime resulting in end over end kartwheels/flips.....I basicly tried to break it.....Not once did I EVER break any suspension parts!!

The only reason I got rid of it was because I got bitten by the racing bugBig Grin

Yep, the only suspention stuff I busted on a savage was when I was running 4 shocks and got bored and threw it off some 25ft jumps...Threw the shafts in the vice, straightened them, popped them back in and went!

on that note, what else would i need to get the x running? do they come with the starter? i know that they need fuel and 12 AA batteries, but does it need a 5 cell pack?

To get running;

6cell pack for rotostart
Gas
Ignitor

To get running good

yeah, i was wondering about the 4AA versus 6 cell, so the 6 cell would work better but would it fitin there right??

i already have 6 celll packs, a charger, AA's, so i'd just need the ignitor and obviously nitro...not bad

jeeze... i know that he was skinny with glasses and brown hairs
but all of them people working there (3 at the time) said t-maxx over savage x

Well I know it wasn't me thenBig Grin I also work there and I'll tell you what I tell customers when I'm asked what I recommend, If you're going to race it-go Revo, If you're going to bash it-go Savage, if you want to get into that class of RC thats fast and cheap plus have plenty of hop ups to chose from, get the Maxx. There's a good reason the Savage doesn't have the aftermarket support the Maxx does, it's a whole lot tougher in all cases from what I've seen come in for parts or work. I'm not too sure about immediate parts availabilty since we haven't gotten anything in for the truck just yet, but 6-10 months seems a bit of a stretch, weeks maybe, but not months. Traxxas isn't much better that HPI on that either, when the 2.5 Maxx came out we had one that was severly wrecked almost immediatly (I think a shed across the street from the young owner and high speed was involved IIRC) and it took around a month to get the 2.5 Maxx specific parts to fix it. The only real advantage Traxxas as a whole has over most of the other hobby companies in general (as everything that we carry) let alone HPI is spectacular customer service that goes well beyond what they should in a few cases I've heard about. If you want to come in and talk to me I'll be there from 10am-5pm tomorrow (3/4/06) and 11am-5pm Sunday (3/5/06).
