i dont have a prob with clips in the pit, IF, IF, your fixing a servo and need to center or set end points.... but put it back when your done. give em time, its only been a week open and they did us a favor opening before they were done... so be thankful.

Whenever I am waiting for a clip I find the person who has it and I tell them "I'm waiting for the clip, please look for me when your done" then I stay close by and easily found. I rarely wait more than 15 mins for a clip.

I did that the first time. I put the clip back up and the person who took it I told them the issue.
They checked on there ride and verfied what I had issues with. He hung onto it until it was resolved and I asked him to give it to me once he was done.
It was fine at first when I was tuning my buggy for 30% then got it out there and it died before the first turn---took it back got it going again just to make it to the back stretch and it started all over again.
I waited each time and checked to see if anyone was on it---I was told it was my ride glitching---Never had this issue before especially with new stuff in two rides.

Sorry but I really hope I damaged the idiots rides out there over this---I kept up with my car\truck off but radio on and I was going crazy with it.
Serves them right if I did do any if at all. They may remember next time.

I hear you guys on not giving up----right now I will try a race day and stick with that for a while until I know some of your faces. I know on race days it would be more organized.
For Practice days---def need something in place to make it fair for everybody to get a chance. Especially with a very full house.
I know one guy waited over an hour for the clip standing and waiting. To me that is hogging it.
20 minutes I can see.
So I wasted my $8 entry, 4 hours of driving round trip and $20 in gas.
For me that is considered a lot of money just to drive that far a play with a toy.

Sorry I had to vent my frustrations and fill you guys in. I do have a temper and I did my best to keep my cool so the best thing for me was to pack up my stuff and wait for my bud to finish his time there.
The chaos there---my daughter wanted to try it there but was fearful of the fact she would not have a chance on the track and everybody would run her over. I couldn't blame her. Poor Kid gave up her day to get a chance and to see this---She even said it was crazy coming from an 11 year old.

I even heard someone saying a gramps was ther with young kids and letting them marshall---it was a bit scary to them and ppl yelling to get off the track.
Personally I think nobody under 10 or 11 should marshall. These ride will break the kids legs and they need to be quick and pay attention. It should be posted for a min age to out there. That is what the viewing window is for right?!
My own kid did not even like doing it and she has done this several times before. This scared the hell out of her.

So for the ones who were there----I was in the small smoking room all the way to the back wall on the left side corner.

Bio,

It was unfortunate that so many practice drivers were selfish yesterday. You must have a very popular freq. Which clip did you keep waiting for?

_____________________

I want to comment here because you said that people were yelling at marshalls to get off the track. I hope this isn't the case, because the noise level on the track was so high I couldn't hear people 2 feet away, let alone 20-30 feet away on the stand. And anyone who would yell at ANY person willing to marshall should be banned. These men, boys, and girls were HELPING you with good intentions. I think the expected reaction during PRACTICE should be for drivers to SLOW DOWN when a marshall approaches a flipped car. Avoid the accident. They aren't trying to "ruin" your good lap, they are helping your fellow hobbyist/racer.

And another thing that grinds my gears....after I flip you back over after YOU JUST CRASHED, please let me get my hand off your wing/bumper/body before you go back to grabbing another handful of trigger!!! You just drove yourself into a crash and you're jumping on the throttle with 100% ??? Take it a bit slower perhaps. shhheeeesh guys.

I know it's out of the budget of some, but I think a Spektrum DX3 for only $250 is probably the first upgrade anyone who is serious about racing should consider. It will solve the major complaint I'm hearing here. That's what I did and am so happy I did.

Gotta try the pizza soon...Smile

Pizzzzzzaaaaa---my kid was happy with that.

I use AM 75 with 78 and 62 crystals.
62 seemed to dissapear faster than 78 did.

One thing with the spektrum radios.

There is only so many freq am or fm.
So lets say all the clips were used and all those freq were use how in the world would the spektrum get it freq.???
How am I to know that some one who has a Spektrum radio was not on one of the channels I was on?
Or is the Spektrum on a tottally different Freq range in MHZ?

BTW----after yesterday---this will be the next thing to get not to mention I would not have to go out and buy 3 more fail safe for my rides.

Thia stuff costs too much to repair over someone being stupid at my expense.

1- radio 3-rides.
My other stuff can stay as is.

Yeah I am over it but still pissed a bit.

With a Spektrum no one can be on your frequency and you don't need a clip ever. You might want to read up on the technology. http://www.spektrumrc.com

Spektrum uses a 2.4 freq like the ones used in cordless phones. It binds the freq to the RX and vise versa. No clips needed because of its unique code.

Quote:yep a sign like at the old place... one by the clips and one by the door.

With the numbers of people, newbies, seasoned drivers and sponsored drivers alike, coming out to LH.....

Maybe they could play a recording over the PA every 10-20 minutes that would remind folks of the 'rules of play'

The unwritten agreement to marshall at least SOME, frequency clip ETIQUETTE, (as well as common sense)
the need to have EVERYONE marshall at least a few minutes, where to put your car as you climb up the stand, Marshalling help, what NOT to do as a marshall bends over to flip your car back over, as well as reminders that EVERYONE pays the same LOW LOW fee of $8 to practice. In exchange for that LOW LOW ALL DAY PRICE, you are allowed to use the track, and ARE EXPECTED to help MARSHALL.

Ive been to the new track 3 times so far. The first was Friday and was a disaster. RADIO PROBLEMS on the pit 1/4 side of the track. Changed frequencies and all was well for a while, until more people showed up and the same type problems occured.
Stopped at the LH store and bought a spektrum setup for my radio Friday Night. THAT solves the frequency problems, but at a fairly steep price to me, and or other racers going THAT route.

The radio problems will happen with LOTS of people at the track. Blame it on the newbies, stupidity or plain ignorance. Hopefully as things get sorted out Bernie and company will be able to take a more PROactive route to help lessen the problems or even eliminate them, before a radio impound becomes Necessary to not only ensure each of us controls OUR own cars around the track and into walls, but to ensure the SAFETY of those of us that still believe that the $8 fee to practice ALL DAY, is only Part of the fee...the other part is to HELP MARSHALL

As far as the 'yelling at marshalls' goes. I have seen some kids out there 'marshalling' that easily get bored and start running around the track, foot racing each other. All the while 15-20 5-10 pound cars are flying all around them. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT..........BAD

Like it was mentioned elsewhere, some of these kids 'willing to help' are simply dragged to the track as dad, or uncle Bill runs his car truck and THEY are left to fend for themselves unattended and uneducated as to the DANGERS of playing on the track. DEFINATELY not the kids fault, and as we see hear and read over and over, somtimes the more experienced racers SHOULD and even NEED to help out the newbies as to what to do or not do while trackside. If that means yelling at a child...........for HIS/HER Safeties sake......by all means yell away.
If guys are yelling at well intentioned and responsible kids for not getting their car fast enough than HEll YES........THAT would be BS.

Did I mention there seems to be a lack of people willing to Marshall?

From Newbies that dont know any better to seasoned racers who just dont want to, to (yep I seen it myself), even sponsored drivers who's self imposed premedona status prevents them form helping MARSHALL after they burn through 3-4-5 tanks straight (with the help of their pit beeootch who will only run out on the track, stepping over or on other stuck cars, to turn his buddies car back on its wheels, ignoring all the others)

Practice days will get sorted out somehow....hopefully soon so as not to turn too many away.

Race days were in the past and hopefully will continue to be COMPLETELY controlled and different than practice at LH though.

BIO Dont give up yet, there is sure to be some GOOD FUN RACING to come at LH.

To add to what Satoch said and pointed you towards, one of the nice features of the Spektrum system is that it comes complete with built in failsafes!

Oh yeah............That pizza hits the spot after a few hours of track excersise.
Hmmmmm ....get everyone to MARSHALL....

Well said

In addition the few times I was out there heading to flip one over the driver still gunning it---with that I keep away until s\he stops---my body parts are worth more than that ride.
What is the point of doing that when you are on your back---all it does is eat up the fuel in the lines and shortening the run time you could have had until you were flipped back over.

My kid can do both---drive and marshall and I guide her in what she needs to do and she will listen but as soon as someone starts yelling at her or keeps the wheels spinning--I told her to leave it alone.
She does not deserve the treatment for helping. I taught her that marshalls need to be respected just as much as the driver does.
She may not be that good but in due time she can be if given the chance.

Heck I kinda noticed----is this a sexist hobby????LOL I hardly hear or see any females into this.

It is a bummer that many are resorting to new radios---most of them are fine when we all get along.
All radios will get the job done---after that it is bells and whistles really--IMO

What about my questions about the frequencies of the Spektrum Radio with other AM and FM radios??

Spektrum uses 2.4GHz. There is no frequency issues with spektrum. Just turn it on and run. You never have to wait for an open frequency.

It doesn't use "Freq's" like the AM/FM radios. Well it does, but it's spread spectrum technology like telephones, and searches "listens" for open "channels" and then takes one and locks it's use to just your radio/rx. There are 79 channels that Spektrum can access. So unless all 79 are in use at the same time, you will get assigned one.

______________________________ from their website.....http://www.spektrumrc.com/DSM/Technology.aspx

HOW DSM WORKS
Collision avoidance eliminates the possibility of more than one Direct Sequencing Spread Spectrum system from transmitting on the same frequency. Here's how it works: When the transmitter is turned on, the system scans the 2.4GHz band looking for an open channel. 79 channels are available. When an open channel is found, the system locks in and transmits on that channel as seen below. (cute animation not copied here)

This process takes about 2 seconds. In the unlikely event an open channel is unavailable, the transmitter continues to scan without emitting a signal until an open channel becomes available. The transmitter will remain on that selected channel until it's turned off. Each individual module is factory programmed with its own unique serial code called GUID (Globally Unique Identification code). Once a receiver is programmed to a specific module (called binding) the receiver will only recognize that module ignoring signals from any other sources. And with over 4 billion possible GUID codes, it's virtually impossible for a receiver to listen to anything other than its bound transmitter.

When the receiver is turned on, it scans the 2.4GHz band and searches for its specific transmitter's encoded signal. When found, it locks in on that channel. If the signal is lost, the receiver goes into a hold mode, positioning the servo to a preset fail-safe position until the signal is reacquired. If the receiver is turned on before the transmitter, it will continuously scan the band until the encoded transmitter signal is present. During this period, the receiver drives the servos to the preset fail-safe position. All Direct Sequencing Spread Spectrum systems are required by the FCC to incorporate active collision avoidance, making it impossible and illegal for more than one transmission on a single frequency.

You must have seen me out there, Bruce! I was sweating up a storm (yes, I am out of shape, even though "round" is a shape, technically). In the cool air I had a cloud of steam coming off my head (I think I was running rich, actually). Marshalling is harder work than driving. Maybe that's why so many guys won't do it.....? hmmm....

i spent more time marshaling then running. i only got a lap with the jato then some jag with a buggy nailed me on the front strait and kept going over the track barrier. this is practice not a real race!! i can see buggys beating with buggys. but when they take out every other truck on the track, thats stupid!

next time im bringing the mgt. let someone hit that thing!! that will make them think twice!

I saw too many to count get rearended in front of the pit row. Fast buggy slamming into slower (name your RC here) ! That round thing in the right hand controls the steering! Or the trigger pulled less than 100% avoids you slamming the rear of the lesser car. But it just kept happening, over and over and over. Are visually impaired racers at the track, too?

Sorry, had to say it.

Again, just glad we kept our Drivers Ed truck in the truck. Less breakage there.

Why not have certain times for certain vehicles when it's packed? What about an all Revo practice for 20 mins. then they marshall the 1/8ths and so on.

All of this can be controlled by creative management and a loud PA system. When there's 50+ people maybe there needs to be two employees, one controlling the track and one for the rest of the facility.

A simpler plan would be to limit the number of drivers on the stand.
