The Savage is indeed a good basher. It's not as good of a racer as a Revo. If Rocco would get a Revo he would consistently be doing much better in the races. He's a good driver. He just needs a better truck to showcase his talents IMO.

On the other hand, I see a lot of guys who are consistently B-Main racers who think if they get a bigger motor or a new buggy that they will be in the A-Main. So they spend the money and are still in the B-Mains. Why? It's their driving. A little bit of technology isn't going to make an A-Main racer of most people. Practice and smooth driving will.

Come up with us to Greenbay Rocco. I've got a nice place for you to stay at free. I have to go because my girlfriend wants to see her sisters' baby again and do the family thing while my buddy Gary and I go racing on Sat.

1st thanks for the compliment on my driving. I appericate it!.... As for my truck... i think ill stick it out im fairing well at the club level... Pro series im not the best but the new chassis might help that..
Im not sayin a revo is a bad truck i just dont want too follow the heard. Your revo is bad as hell and light as a feather, just not for me. Thats the day of the last DD race and im battlin for second in that class right know so no green bay race for me bro

Dave
Nascars are SUPPOSEDLY all the same but there not even close. They follow a strict rule book but find way to increase there chance of winning but tweaking and spending gobbs of money to pick up a few thousandths of a second on there competitors... They are NO where near a "stock" car.
I find r/c to be the same way differnt models just like nascar (traxxas, hpi associated instead of ford chevy dodge) and usally the team that done the most homework and spent a large portion of there sponors money wins ( with alotta luck too!)

Thats my .02

Roc,

I'm sure I follow you on the NASCAR connection.

I was saying that to compare stock Sav vs. Revo, you have two different platforms from the start. They aren't really similar in any way. To argue which is "better" is to compare apples and oranges.

To make it an "all in the family" debate, why not compare Revo against TMaxx, which I believe one magazine did after Revo came out.

Ok Rocco, one last thing and then I'll never mention it again. If you don't want to be "one of the herd" (Revo herd I assume), then why not get a Monster GT or, better yet, a Tamiya TNX. They both faired very well. I'd have to give the nod to the TNX though. I drove my buddies. It's a great truck. Guys in CA. are cleaning up with them. And they come stock with an OS.18 motor. Your big block Savage needs to weigh a minimum of 9.5lbs. and have a 150ml max. tank btw.

I agree there are better choices out there than what i have "in stock form"... If anything i think the lst is a good truck... But thats after 500 bucks to make it tough. MGT's are sweet too. Ive heard terrible things about TNX durability on the grid

BTW... May savy is 10.7 pounds (mail scale) and i wont fill the tank all the way up Wink

Bruce you raced the tm i sold you already? it flamed out 5 times? you haven't even been to a DD's race since you've had that motor. You must be mistaking it for a different motor.

That motor has only flamed out on me a couple times, EVER, much less multiple times in the same heat/race. Must be your tuning if that is in fact the motor your talking about.

I am going to run a P5 in my revo. I don't want extra power over the SB motor, I want reliable power. SB's are not as reliable or consistant as BB motors, period. I can run my P5 a tad rich, running the same speed as a TM, temp at 210F after a 20min main, and NEVER flame out.

ORC, I would throw the true BB motor in, the VZB

TEX THANK YOU!!! I was wondering when the 3 pages of girl talk were going to result in an actual opinion on the subject of the thread itself.

This was never a "what engine should I race with" or "Revo vs. Savage" debate.

As far as racing is concerned, I say you can hold back on the power (with the throttle or tuning) but you can't make up for a lack of power when you run out.

Basically, I already have the 2 engines to choose from...a RB Mods Picco .26max and the VZB

i dont know what .26 comes stock in my Mayhem ST But I do know for a cheap motor ( like 150 or less on Ebay) that thing hauls ass... I have the mayhem pro buggy with a VZB and a Mayhem ST with a stock motor, and I cant tell u that that VZB is any faster... Sorry if im studering... must be the Captin in me  I will tell u that after my 18tm I will never buy an OS motor again. Just my opinion tho. later

after owning my tm i will never buy anything else but this motor for my revo. Tons of power, low 200 for temps, and you never really get to use all of its power on the tracks around here. Only time im ever at full throttle is just going down the straight which im not on for anymore then 3 seconds other wise its usually half throttle or 3/4th throttle if theres a jump i want to clear i shouldnt be. I dont know why so many people on this board dont like that motor, usually temps at 230 and make more then enough power to clear any jump at half throttle and blasts down the straight away with most anything else.

did someone say MGT?? my buddy is selling his MGT for $400 RTR. Its got high torque servos, I think and XS3, 247 pro engine, this is the same guy I got all my many RC's from so if someone buys it he may just toss in whatever else he's got laying around.. lol.

[QUOTE= I dont know why so many people on this board dont like that motor.[/QUOTE]

I dont like that motor because the fricken thing went bad with little over a gallon threw it. It started scraping the backplate with the rod and the rod had alot of play on the crank... you should know, ive heard you've had 5 of them. I think they've been out for a year now. Add that up 219.00 x 5 = CRAP

theres a fix for that now, and ive only had 3 in a years time. Im now on my 4th and final one. If this one goes bad to fast im selling my truck.

Mich is right. There's a simple fix and I have two of the spacers in my hand. I'm putting one in my new TNT Modded TZ and one in my backup TM I got from Gabe. If racing a Revo therer really isn't any other motor than the TM/TZ that makes sense.

I understand Kevins' frustration. I've got a dead TM and a dead TZ, but now I know the problem and have what's supposed to be the solution. I'll try it and pray it works.

I hope that RB Concepts comes out with a .18 small block.

"If racing a Revo therer really isn't any other motor than the TM/TZ that makes sense."

based on what? Have YOU tried a BB motor? Have you ever even owned a BB motor?

Sounds strictly like an opinionated statement, not based off experience.

I see a big block in my futuer when the TM dies Smile. I'm thinking good old cheap and dead reliable Mach .26. Worked great in the savage! That thing ran like a champ.
