Not necessarily for racing (just for kicks)... set up in a Revo...a O.S. VZ-B or a Picco .26 max??
What would be cooler??

hmmm... I'd go with the VZB. That would be one silly revo.

seen it done. Some guy was trying to race his vzb revo at leisure once but he never could get the engine to tune right. People are running the .30 engines in there revo's without problems.

RC Dad, I hate to say it , but I saw the ultimate Savage piloted by the HPI pro sponsored guy racing this weekend. I lapped him twice in practice. The truck just plain sucks for racing. It has a suspension like a tank. He was a total hazzard on the track. I'll give him an A for effort though.
As for the Revos with huge motors, they just don't work. When are people going to realize that there's a point where you can't get the HP to the ground?
09-27-2005, 09:56 PM
Well...like I said, not for racing. As most of my R/C's are right now, I look for that stupid fast, over the top, can't control it combo. It's all good fun and there is something to say for the WOW factor when people see what you're running.
Hmmm Bruce thats funny cuz i think i know a guy ( Yeah me ) with a savage that broke it off too you a couple of times this summer :moon: lap:
And how can you judge the truck in practice??? I could lap torres in practice that doesnt mean im gonna even hang in a race! What im saying is there are other trucks besides the damn revo that can be raced... The TNX, MGT,T Maxx, hell Andy Smolnick is winning races out west witha f*$#kin Cen Genises!!!!!!! The savage ISNT the best platform to start building a racer from but it can be done, it just depends on if you want to spend the time and cash making it a racer

Hello 911...Yes, I'd like to report a hijacking in progress
09-27-2005, 10:08 PM
Rocco, did you happen to notice that when you beat me last that the motor I got from Gabe flamed out 5 times in that last 10min. race?
I've had nothing but engine problems this whole summer. That's why I'm so happy to have a good motor finally. I knew once I had a motor that worked that I'd be running up front and this weekend proved that to me. My suspension/tire setups have been perfect and my driving has been getting better thanks to Lances' schooling and simply more time on the tracks. I also was there for the mains. Dude, I'm serious, the Savage is a menace on the Pro Series. When are you guys just going to realize that the world evolves and dinasours die?
09-27-2005, 10:11 PM
All im saying is any truck can win on any day ... It doesnt have to be a revo to win... I think the first time you came out to race you had a good engine  (the opening of the big track)
Im glad you have a good engine, nothing is more frustrating than a engine that wont do its job. I hope you bring it to the last DD race in 2 weeks

will do...they seem verry slow on a big track and those bumps make it hard to contol, but if i lived in a fire house with a big smooth garage floor, Id convince a few buddies to get them and have some races there. Im sure the chief would love you after the road rage tires left there marks on there nice painted floors. :bustingup

LOL!! Our floors are that grippy paint (ya know the paint with sand in it ) I think they would make short work of 18t tires!!!

I alreadt have a set of road rages on mine. I used mine most in the garage at work anoying the other mechanics driving it around there feet. The stock pins were gone the first month, now there slicks. I also got a reedy motor and a speed controler from a spyder. Stock speed controler couldnt handle the doughnuts threw the antifreeze/oil puddles. Boy did those guys get mad when I roosted them with there own messes...lol
09-28-2005, 01:02 AM
yeah mine didnt seem to like the snow last year ethier !!! LOL! It just stopped moving... So i put it on the heat grate overnight and i works fine. Mines all stock though, im sure yours is faster

I just saw what seems to be a great way to make the Savage a better racer and that is by swapping out the transmission for a center gear. One guy on SC has his Savage down to 9 lbs and with just the center gear he's flying around Revo's on the track.
09-28-2005, 08:16 AM
Revo - Savage who cares!!!!??? Unless you guys are going to run them in STOCK form against each other, why argue about which is better? After you start modding, you're not really talking about the original vehicle anyway. Now it's an arguement about who fixed the weakness of their vehicle better or who pumped more money into going fast.
Get back to the basic principle; STOCK Savages are fun/bashers, STOCK Revo's are fun/racers. Why can't we just all get along !!!! Run what ya like. Have fun. If you can enjoy it, then it's the right RC for you. Variety is the spice of life. My .02. Fater all, this is a public forum. ps: Chevy Rules |
