working in Rockford. i have never before or ever since heard a construction site that silent. then they started landing planes at the airport out there. my wife was working in downtown Chicago. i called her and told her that i didn't care if it meant she would get fired, that she needed to get her a$$ home.
10/8/1871- the great Chicago fire. Approximately 250 people were killed in the fire; 98,500 people were left homeless; 17,450 buildings were destroyed along with the original Emancipation Proclamation.
