6yrs ago, I had just signed the title on my 89 TransAm. I was feeling great, I had the car I wanted.

Then I heard on the radio.

Sept 11th. Sad
I was sitting in 7th grade reading when another teacher came in the room and said to put on the news because a plane just flew into a building
at home getting ready for school. When i woke up parents were watching it on t.v.
i was in some "perenting" class is hike school when we heard about it dont hate on the class its where all the ladies were lol
In 8th grade sitting in my most laid back class relaxing on the couch when we heard it on the radio. (We always had the radio on quietly.) Then I watched the rest of it on TV in another class and at my grandparents house.
Getting ready for work, then driving to the St CHarles Toy's "R" Us with Mom (she and my sister worked there at the time too, so we car pooled most of the time.) Weird feeling driving past the DuPage Airport and seeing all the grounded planes, then those several days that this country's airspace was closed and not seeing or hearing them fly overhead whenever I went outside of that store. It's alway pretty noticable from the HTU, but TRU is closer and you can hear things from that airport more easily there than just down the road at this store.
Walking into school (5th grade) heard it from some teacher... Honestly had no clue what the twin towers were.
me neither lol
Man you guys are young!

I was on my way to work, when the first hit and they broke in on the radio, watched the second one hit live on tV. Needless to say thats all we did all day at work was watch TV. After I got home form work went to my wifes (then fiances) house. went to church and lite a vidial candle and then called my Directors Association and signed up to go there for the recovery process. Unfortunately there where never enough actual remains recovered for multistate agencies to be called in.
I was getting ready to go to school (I lived in Alamogordo, NM at the time, and it was ~7:40- ~7:50am there), and I was channel surfing, and I came across the national news channel to find that the world trade center is on fire. The rest of the day at school we just watched/listened to the news, and then went home when school ended (I was in 7th grade).
I was on my way to NYC from Boston when I heard it on the radio. I pulled in to a truck stop right away and was watching it on the news live when the 2nd plane hit. At first I thought it was a replay of the 1st plane hitting. Then the newsman was in stunned silence before saying that it appeared a 2nd plane had hit. Thats when the chit hit the fan cuz everyone KNEW it wasn't an accident. I remember all the crazy stories flying around and how weird it felt wondering if it was just the beginning of some huge attack on the country. I had visions of Red Dawn goin round in my head. I turned back around and went home. Honestly it felt good to be an American that nite. It brought everyone together. Everyone was driving around Boston honking horns and flying flags all nite long. It's like everyone's rallying cry. My boss was getting married the next day and got grounded in Salt Lake City. He had to rent a Uhaul and drove cross country to make it.

I don't want to say it was a good thing that happened because I knew people who died that day. But, something had to happen to wake up Americans to the FACT that we don't live in a box and that what we do in our own little world has a big affect on the rest of the world and how peolpe view us. It's to bad that most peoples opinion of the USA is from the garbage we spew out on the television. It's our own fualt that people hate us. Not because we are bad but because we don't do anything to make people understand what we are about.

I was on 290 outbound from the city of Chi towards Elmhurst, listening to Mancow.....
They were saying something about a small plane that hit one of the World Trade Center Towers and that it was on fire.... Shortly after I arrived at work and watched the second plane hit the second tower....everyone just started crying.....................

Sad day in history...........I will never forget it
i was sleeping. i over slept when i woke up it was on the tv. when i got to school i was the only one showing up and everyone else was leaving because there parents didnt want them there
working driving in minn. and the rest of the day kept looking at an empty sky
On my way to work listining to mancow. I thought is was a joke at first.
Got to the shop and turned on the tv to find out it was real And then the second one hit. And at that point you new something was terribly wrong.

We spent the rest of the day watching the tv, I think we only did 2 oil changes that day.

Its very eerie to see nothing in the sky. Or hear it for that matter. Specially since at the time I lived about 5 miles from Ohare Airport, and we ALWAYS heard the planes. Sometimes they were low enough that I could make out the individual aluminum panels that made the skin of the planes.
working in Rockford. i have never before or ever since heard a construction site that silent. then they started landing planes at the airport out there. my wife was working in downtown Chicago. i called her and told her that i didn't care if it meant she would get fired, that she needed to get her a$$ home.
I dont actually remember. I thing I was in the bathroom in 4th grade when I heard what happen on the pa system
I was in 5th grade in the computer lab. They didn't even tell us what happened, I (along with about 25-30 other kids) got called to the office and go picked up by my mom. Walked in the door, turned the TV on and saw the replay of the second one hitting the building. All the other kids said that they didn't even tell them what happened why everyone was going home.
Chilling memories....another clear blue sky morning today..just like in 2001...flags at half mast everywhere...silence on the radio...radio replays of some broadcasts....

Never forget those lost.

Never forget those responsible.

- Toby Keith said it best -

American Girls and American Guys
We’ll always stand up and salute
We’ll always recognize
When we see Old Glory Flying
There’s a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Until the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin’ in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the 4th of July

Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin’ her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it’s gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin’ her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue

Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you’ll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
`Cause we`ll put a boot in your ass
It`s the American way

Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin’ her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it’s gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin’ her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue
I was in 4th grade, and I just got to school and lined up with everyone else, ready to go in, and then my friend came up to me and said, "A plane just flew into one of the Twin Towers"(this was before the second one hit, and the third, and fourth...). I knew something bad happened, but I didn't know what the Twin Towers were until I came home that day and watched the news on TV.

Heard it on mancow while switching trucks around.

I remember cow saying that it wasnt a joke. He didnt know what to say because they were trying to figure out some stupid headline to end the show with and a plane crash was one of them.

I was at work and heard it on the radio and we all thought it was odd then the 2nd one hit and we knew something was up. That night they had us mechanics pull all the keys out of the garbage trucks at work cause they heard that terrorists were lookin to steal garbage trucks and load them with explosives and drive them to Chicago and bomb one of our skyscrapers! At that time we weren't worried about a terrorist stealin our trucks and drivin them all the way to Chitown cause our junk a$$ trucks would have never made it there! Waste Management-Think Green!
