In this case, the only damaged thing is the screen. And its not very obvious. I watched TV on it for about 45minutes before i finally decided that I could live with the scratch. And the cost of replacing the screen isn't that much. Also, its covered in the service plan I paid for too. 
so its ultimately free, though I did have to pay for the service plan. Also I got the manual, and remote w/batteries. So its not bad for me at all.
If it blows up in a little under 4 years, just before the plan runs out well....I can get a new one for free.
