Yeah, it was definitely a fun weekend of racing. I should have a few pics up in the next day or two also.
Props go out to the whole LH crew, and everyone else who helped out along the way. Like I told Bernie last night, for being called on to host Rd. 4, when the facility wasn't even finished yet, and based off the hype alone, I'm sure LH will be home to many more major races. The fact that they can run indoors if the weather gets bad is a plus, even though some may have thought it wasn't. There were two options given after the rain hit about 25 minutes into the Int. AT a-main and that race was called based on current running order...run the remaining A's inside, or call it and score based on qual. points. Most guys opted to run inside. Even though the track is smaller, setups are different, and driving styles have to be changed a little, it still gives people their monies worth. According to Carlton, they had over 7" of rain for the last round in Texas last week, and ALL of the a's got rained out. The closest indoor track in Texas was a 1-1/2 hour drive, so they called it based on qual points.
Now, for my performance..LOL. After getting a few clutch issues worked out, I qual'd 6th in the Int. AT B-main, and was happy with that seeing as how I don't get out to the track very often. The first 6 or 7 laps, I was sitting comfortably in the #2 spot with no one around me to get tangled with. All I had to do was keep it on the wheels. The truck was hooked up and everything was going smooth until I landed the first crossover a little hard, and flamed...DAMN! That would instantly put me two laps down, and in a 15 minute race, there wasn't going to be too much I could do to make that up. After getting it restarted, all I could do was keep my cool, and drive it like I stole it. I am still happy with the results, and with Tune sitting a couple of points behind me, and me on the bubble, who knows what will happen. I'm just hoping to see more than a few Chit-town boys at the finals.
