Traxxas_Junkee Wrote:Thats cuz the Cubs fan would waste their money on going to see them lose, we just watched them lose on TV. It's cheaper...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Spoken like a "true" sox fan!!!! How is it a waste of money to seeyour team lose? You are still watching your team!!! Guess thats where the whole "bandwagon" thing comes in, huh?!!! I would rather waste money at the park and watch them lose then sit at home and watch them win!

A true fan will go watch there team play live, no matter how the team is doing that year. A buddy here at work goes to at least 5-10 soxs games a year, and that was before they won the world series. THAT is a fan. Go support YOUR team!

Aint nothing like going to a game, hanging out with other fans, drinking beer, eating hotdogs, etc. Those who've never been to a baseball game should get of the couch and go! Smile. If you have no desire to go, then you're not a baseball fan and should just leave this threads for the "real" fans.

Listen, this is easy. The Sox right now are the team to beat in the WHOLE league AL or NL. Why? Great managing, awesome front office staff, excellent vision in trading and minor league hopefuls. No BS when it comes to ticket prices, nothing is inflated and the bandwagoneers get their *sses kicked out of every bar they frequent. The Cubs franchise needs to look at the big picture, they need a series, but they have to get the Front office staff and the managing where it needs to be. Fire Dusty, first off, it aint working. Second build a good team of young players with talent over time like the Sox have. Then suddenly it will come together. This patch work of vets and young nobodies never works, never has. Thirdly for christ sakes. SMALL BALL WINS GAMES!

Sincerely,
A Disgruntled life long Rabid Cubs Fan, who loves to watch great baseball and believes those guys across town got it right and we didn't.

I only watch Naperville Pony AA baseball, and especially the team sponsored by Lisle-based Magnetrol Corporation, makers of precision flow measurement devices. Thanks for your support of youth baseball in America!

how can u say that there are no "young hopefuls" there entire team has been always built on young talent. And to say that the front office is lagging, look at some of the deals and steals that have been made in recent years, 3003 lofton and ramirez, burnitz lastyear, and what about sean marshall or angel gusman this year

Come on, Lofton? He played one season, he was a bat, then dumped for Paterson, younger cheaper. Now where is Paterson? Guzman unproven in big league play, will his shoulder become an issue? We will see. Ramirez, yes excellent pick, 8th year in the league, hardly young. Sean Marshall, another young unproven pick that fortunately has two wins under his belt and 10 ERs in two games, well lets hope it doesnt get higher. Cedeno, I like him, nice average and is putting in the RBI's. Burnitz, now gone to pit in his 13th year, lofton at the time with the cubs was in his 12th year.
My point is acquistion doesnt do any good if you cant get the team to gel together. The cubs keep searching instead of putting them together and just letting them play.

Whatever, I've always watched the sox and we have gone to a few every year, but i just can't see spending so much on season tickets for the cubs or sox, but I do consider my self a "true" sox fan.

I agree with the point that a TRUE fan will go to the games to support their team, win OR lose. But in the same sense, I see the point that Traxxas Junkee was making. Why would the Cubs owners dish out more money for better coaching, or players, when the fans are ok with having a team that can't hold it together all season?

But answer this question.... Just because I don't (can't) go to a Sox game, does that make me any less of a "True Fan" than someone who does go to the games? Just because I don't have the extra $50+ (Ticket price, parking, a couple beers, etc.) to go to a game doesn't mean I don't support them.

Being a TRUE fan means you are a fan of that team, win or lose, which I have always been a Sox fan.

I think he is a good manager, he just needs to get the right players, their pitching isnt too bad but, did you see the game today, they had a few errors

We are not ok with it, at least the true Cubs fans, the bandwagoneers can go suck an egg...I'm not ok with the Cubs efforts as of late. I don't care about 2003 either. We let it slip through our fingers, it wasnt some yahoos fault that we lost that game.

Your right NewGuy a True fan does not need to be at the games to show support. You can do that with expensive Jerseys, LOL. I'm lucky if I make one Cubs game a year, and its usually cause I get a ticket for my birthday. But I watch the games, hell I watch the Sox and any other game I come across. I'm a fan of the game, which is why I cant understand how Cubs fans can be so uptight about the Sox winning the series. Sure its a rivalry but hell the Sox played some damn good ball. I know some Cubs fans who wouldnt watch the series or rooted for the Astros. Normally I would root for the NL team. But this is hometown baby, gotta root for the hometown. Plus the stro's fall just behind the Dolphins and Marlins on my all time Sh*t list. I hope Florida is swallowed up by a hurrricane.

rocco that double A pitcher is the biggest prospect in the major leagues for the last 4 years....however I was a little more impressed with former top ten cubs prospect Ricky Nolasco on the bump today he threw a damn good game

Dusty's brilliant plan relies on vets not young players. Take a good look at the 2003 team, how many fielders were rookies who made starts. This discounts pitchers which Dusty pushes with reckless abandon, only to burn'em up, putting a reliever in the worst position.

Then you aren't a true cubs fan, any TRUE Cubs fan knows it was Steve Bartman, and the Goat's fault... lol J/K It really is a relief to see someone who has some REAL common sense, and can admit that the team messed up, rather than come up with "another excuse".
