9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-11-2005

Hey, just got back from racing. It was a blast.

1st qual- popped off both front turnbuckles on one side (steering and camber) so that slowed me down quite a bit. Oh yeah. ended up losing my dogbone.

2nd qual- During warm-ups I stripped 1st gear, so for the first 20 seconds of the race I was out adjusting my shift point to that it was stuck in second. Went back out, and during the last minute I hit the wall and the engine died. Fired it back up only to discover that the engine was overheated from being in 2nd the whole time. Richened 1/6 of a turn before I went back out and everything was alright.

3rd qual-I don't remember.....

B-Main- Started off good, last 3 mins I LOST a turnbuckle, dogbone and popped off another turnbuckle. Stole another dogbone from Earl(RCDad), and snagged another turnbuckle from my box. Got one more lap in before we finished.

Overall, I ended up placing 3rd in the B-main, very happy for the first time I raced.
Hope to see everyone in 2 weeks. =)

Wow, was that a lot of fun, both Matt (savagedrivr16) and I had so much fun just finishing the races. It truly is more endurance than speed. I don't know how many races we saw start out with a pack and end up a dual between two or one car.

That last b-main was a blast as Matt and I both scrambled at the end to finish. he doing fixes to his car and I had to completly swap out the RS4 with my NTC3 but we both finished the race and both of us we're so happy to have accomplished that!

When I got home my wife could not belive how long I was there, it truly is a hard place for kids, I saw so many that were asleep by the third qualifier Smile

A few pics, I should have taken more.....

Chris's setup and the drivers stand. Chris ended up not being able to compete in the final race but he stuck around to pitt for Matt and I.

Here is my canopy and there is Matt doing something (not sure what) Smile

This is from our setup looking to the left, there were so fewer people there than last time, but I'm sure at the next points race there will be a full crowd.

Yeah it was fun. I was getting ready for the next race, messing around on my phone and refueling with some Reeses. =)

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-11-2005

Crap. I just realized that I left my frequency thing on the board when I left. Do we leave them with Walt or were we supposed to keep them with us?

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-11-2005

I think I left my tag up there also Smile We'll probably have to get new ones next time. I'm going to bring all my chairs next time.

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-11-2005

Yeah, and I'll see if I can find a bigger table. Rolleyes Big Grin

Thankfully, It'll only be about $20 for my replacement parts.

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-11-2005

What all are you going to have to get? I felt kind of bad because you seemed a little upset in that last race, I was glad that you got it figured out and finished the race.

Did your sisters end up jumping in the pool when you guys got home? Big Grin

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-11-2005

Naa, we didn't go in.

I was a little upset, just because I really wanted to finish the race without breaking. It was all good though.

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-11-2005

What a triumph at the end when we both finished!

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-11-2005

heh.....lol

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-11-2005

I may start racing the NTC3 more...

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-11-2005

That'd be cool, were you doing better with it today?

9/11 Tinley Park - chicagokenji - 09-11-2005

Coop, Kole and I couldn't make it today because Cooper had his opening game for football. We'll be at the last race. I'm working on getting all 4 of our electric TC3's ready. I think we're gonna give Intense Raceway Park a try on Sundays. At least until Leisure's indoor season starts. Then it should be a long season of indoor off road for us. Although we do enjoy both off road and on road.

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-12-2005

I was doing better with the NTC3 than I did when I first started Smile

9/11 Tinley Park - Nexus - 09-12-2005

Most of the onroad racers were at Intense Raceway on Saturday. That is why the turnout was low...

There was a big race at IRP.

Hopefully most of us come out to Tinley for the final points day.

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-12-2005

Yeah, Walt said that and the Bears game hurt the turnout Smile

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-12-2005

Heh, if there's alot of people on the next race, I may just sit it out and watch...

NAA!!! The more the merrier, right?

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-12-2005

Hopefully Walt will run a c-main again, if not I'll just get out there and get in people's way Big Grin

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-12-2005

Yeah, that's the way I see it!

I figure I'll buy some extra dogbones and turnbuckles before the race plus the replacement ones just incase.

Do you want you SN RS4 axles back next time I see you? I think I may have both, I'll check.

9/11 Tinley Park - RCDad - 09-12-2005

Better hang onto it in case you need it some day.

9/11 Tinley Park - Ponch - 09-12-2005

If you're sure...
