A little low for my tastes but seems to work ok for now.

looks good, but check for binding. it looks like its sitting odd in the last pic.

The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 01-25-2008

Naa, camera too low and at a weird angle I think made it look that way.

Sat too low for my tastes, now i put the stock bumpstops on the shocks where they were. Raises it a tad and all seems good.

The Official Crawler Thread - bubbaracing - 01-26-2008

Very cool Ponch!! :joy:

The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 01-26-2008

Thanks. Smile

Hopefully I can keep pace with you.

The Official Crawler Thread - Mnster - 01-26-2008

I've got some really long shock rod ends if you need them.

Thanks for the offer.
I'll see how it does at the meeting on the 2nd and go from there Big Grin

Experienced guys....

I want to do a 4 link setup on the axial.
I have made the rear mount (similar to the TCS boomerang) and some side mounts so that I can use longer links (the original lower links actually, I have bent links now.)
Any opinions on if this will work or?
If it's going to be a hunk of crap I'll put it back to stock but if it will be better I will do it to the front too.

You'll be fine, Does it still torque twist a lot now with the 4-link on the rear? If it does, take the driver side link and move it to the top side of the boomerang, that should help the twist! That's the next mod i'm gonna do, working on my dig set-up now! Gonna be "Bubba dig" LMAO Big Grin

I haven't run it since I did that.
My pack has been on the charger since 10 last night at .1 amp, we'll see how much it takes from pretty much dead.

The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 01-26-2008

woot it's done, timer says 908 minutes on the charger ! That's 15 hours lol took all 1500 also, which is good.

The Official Crawler Thread - bubbaracing - 01-26-2008

Let er rip!! :racing:Confusedlap:

The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 01-26-2008

hey bubba, could you drop that crawler stuff off at my house some time? and nice truck matt

The Official Crawler Thread - bubbaracing - 01-26-2008

Yep will do! Ya gonna be around Sun? LMK Big Grin

The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 01-26-2008

what time sunday? if im not homejust drop it in the door? and did i buy brake line and give it to you?

The Official Crawler Thread - motoxer4life - 01-27-2008

Nice crawler matt, how long did it take ya to build? And why they hell did the 1500 mah battery take so long? I have a 2600 and it only takes an hour on 1 amp. Do you charge it at like .1 amp or somthin??

The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 01-27-2008

It came built (bought it barely used). Battery was charged at .1 amp so yeah....

Not sure if I'm liking the 4 link after all. the rear axle has a real tendency to try and shove the RR tire under the truck when going up my entertainment center (only thing in the house that's crawlable for now lol) BUT I think it might be the way I have my shocks mounted in the rear, I ran short on hardware and it's not the way I would like it to be. I'll get the stuff today and let you guys know.

are you planning to use those axles on a 2.2 or a super truck? They almost look like you could run them for 2.2 (just from looks)

The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 01-28-2008

i think they are a little to big for a 2.2 rig. i think im just gonna get some axial axles and a pede tranny cause i just got a tuber from bubba and ill have a comp crawler.

The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 01-28-2008

Gotta say that my axial is sweet on the hobbytown naperville course. The guy there (Jay?) said it handled better than any other axial he'd seen and that he was going to steal some parts of my setup...

The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 01-29-2008

Thats just because Jays truck sucks Big Grin
The biggest thing I see on your truck is that you lowered your CG way down. A stock axial is a crazy setup if you ask me.

Why is it your skid plate looks lower than your axles?

The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 01-29-2008

I would have to say the skid and the axles are about the same height....lol.

It felt great, I just have to watch where my tires are and plan in advance or I will get stuck and have to reverse. Otherwise I made it up/down/around any obsticle there last night fine. Totally owned a WK too lol.
Definately need a dig though, for turns on the concrete part of the course.
Going to LH tonight....hehehe

Welp Jay did hook me up with a body to use for now which was AWESOME (if you're lurking, get on here dammit lol) and this is what I did with it.

As you can see it's pretty sweet compared to stock, lol. Removed about 1" down the middle and made the strip come to a point at the front of the truck (so the hood area stayed relatively the same width at the front) shouldn't get hung up on anything (I hope).

The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 01-29-2008

Note the top mount body posts too Big Grin

The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 01-29-2008

Well, I guess if everyone is building better rigs Ill have to design a better course for the comps :bustingup
