Tex with the power in that revo it is understandable. I can see you chasing down and driving over some 1/8th scales...

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - kevinF - 01-03-2006

wow it sounds like I shouldnt go to the track until I got a spektrum... im not saying you guys said that but it seems like that :o:

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - Blown5.0 - 01-03-2006

The Spektrum DX3 now comes with a 2nd reciever for the same price of $249.95. It says it's only for a limited time. Ultimatehobbies.com had the DX3 w/ 2 recievers for $209.95 shipped & no sales tax...pretty good deal IMO.

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - Ponch - 01-03-2006

209????That's WITH the 2 RX's? Man, time to sell the old XS3.

I race 1/8th scale and I try to be as "gentle" with the smaller cars as possible, but u guys gotta understnad that if you dont wanna get run over dont try to race the bigger cars, go wide and let them go. Just cuz u can beat them in one corner doesnt mean ur driving faster than them. countless times on the straight i spun out to avoid hitting some electric or 1/10 scale cuz I tried goin to one side or the other and the slower trucks are just right in the middle of the driving line. I would have to slam on the breaks at that point and just hope the bounce of the wall wasnt too bad. I understand that everyone is entitled to their practice time, but dont complain about getting bumped when ur trying to race the bigger cars/buggies. Half the time i couldnt even see some of the smalller electrics but its not always just the guys with buggies/MT's fault

long story short, I think separated times is in order

Biodragen, sorry to hear that your first experience at LHR was not the greatest. I promise you next time you come out it will be a day and night difference for you. Things will calm down and I'm sure some type of rules and regulations will be posted. I don't think LHR anticipated so many newbies at once, witch is what we want, more people to get into the hobby but we must help each other out and we will. If you ever have any kind of problem again just ask any of the LHR people for help and it will get taken care of. I'm also willing to help anyone who was a question or problem just look for the funny looking guy with the curly hair and a Kyosho shirt. I promise you that is the last bad experience you'll ever have at LHR.

Traxxas Thrasher, a Spektrum is not necessary. Everything will be OK with the frequency board from now on.

loco, your probaly right man.... but im still getting a spektrum dx3 whether its before or after my first time at the track..

hey bernie you should look in to maybe letting people rent dx3 at the track.... maybe $10 to rent plus $8 for practice.... if your worried about the expense the money would be paid off fairly quickly if you ask me.

just an idea

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 01-03-2006

that would be cool but it only takes one guy to drop it lol

Tex Wrote:Biodragen, did I see you type that you turned your radio on without the clip on purpose and started functioning it just to screw other people up?

No I did that when I had the clip hoping for that person to realize what what going on.
I may have been out of the hobby for a while but there are a few things that stuck with me.
Radio's was the biggest one---what order to turn on and find out if you are okay to turn on the Radio.

The first thing I did there when I walked into the track is ask where the clip board was located.

As for the Spectrum---I get it now--I think.
I went to the site and read up on it a bit more.
From what I understand---all channels can be used up on am and FM and still the Spectrum will not have issues then---am I correct in this understanding?

I did get good news today----the wife said it was okay for me to get the new radio and 2nd Rx.
Yipeee---I was not expecting it but her thought is with the prob's I had and what I have spent on this
it would be best to spend the lil extra as insurance in a sense. I just have to put the money back somehow.
That was the trip up on this.

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - Biodragen - 01-03-2006

I looked too and could not find it.

Still I think it would be safer than sorry I didn't get one and less worries about what channel
I will be on.
Plus I can keep all 3 of my pride and joys on one radio.

I was told the HITEC Aggressor can take upto 6 mode verses Spektrums 3 modes.
It cost about $20 more to get one.

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - Mr. Tune - 01-03-2006

AM is 27mhz, FM is 75mhz, spektrum is 2.4Ghz. They are all on different frequency bands, so with that said, you are correct in your understanding. All the AM and FM channels could be used up and it still wouldn't interfere with someone who has spektrum.

Also, think of spektrum as a fully automatic frequency clip board. There are 79 available channels (i think). The radio will automatically search for an open channel and take the virtual clip for it when you turn on your radio and transmitter. It automatically puts it back when you turn it off. It know's when a channel is taken, so you'll never get on the same channel as someone else Smile. Full Proof Smile.

thats sweet i wish i could afford one

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - Blown5.0 - 01-03-2006

Ultimate hobbies doesn't list all of the products they carry on line. Call them up and they will tell you thier prices and wether they carry it or not. I spoke with a guy named John in the RC car department, but anyone can help and will give you that same price.

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - Biodragen - 01-03-2006

first time at LHR/ Spektrum thread - mikeL - 01-03-2006

Bio, I was the guy that was trying to help you for the little bit I was at the track. I read somewhere on here that you were using an AM radio. I know you were using channel 62. I'm sorry to tell you this but someone with a highend FM radio on either 61 or 63 can bleed over onto 62 very easily. Especially if your batteries are a little low and there's are fully charged or new alkalines. You are talking about getting a new radio which is a good idea. I know it's not fair that you would need to but alot of people buy better radios so they won't have problem when they are running with alot of people. Working at the track I see many problems with radio interference and believe me when I say this 90% of the problems are with the persons equipment. There was someone yesterday that was upset that he had radio problems. Bernie checked the entire facility for someone with a radio on with that frequency. It ended up that his batteries were very low in his radio. Again I'm sorry to say that an AM radio is fine when you're with a few people but when you're with alot of people you will probably have problems.

Mikes right... thats why no one runs AM if they are on xtals... am is prone to interferance.

i know its hard to justify a new radio.... but if you get spektrum, you will NEVER redgret it...

best money i ever spent on this hobby, well that and a XB8 Smile
