The Official Crawler Thread - BJoe - 02-10-2008 Ponch Wrote:Should sound "real"-er when it scrapes rocks too... Can't wait to hear it The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 02-11-2008 Ha, not any more with the lexan panels on top of them. I doubt they would have lasted very long without any protection. The Official Crawler Thread - BJoe - 02-11-2008 True, I'll have to try that with a couple Coke cans if I ever build a tuber! The Official Crawler Thread - KreepyCrawler52 - 02-11-2008 well here it is the begging of a tuber. i think its to small...what do you think? The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 02-12-2008 hard to tell, no point of referrence. I build all my tubers small but, they still have to comply with the rules. The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 02-22-2008 well i got money and now im looking for some axles to put under my chassis. whats your guy's opinion on axles? im looking at TLT's, Axial's, and WK's whats are some good and bads about each? The Official Crawler Thread - bubbaracing - 02-22-2008 Axial's are the easiest way to go, at least that's what the tuber was built around! Buy a pair of Axial axles/trans and you'll be set, build your own links and BAM you're there! lol Matt The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 02-25-2008 Buy a WK without electronics... Shocks, axles, Transmission all in 1 package. You can use Maxx shafts with it so no driveshafts popping apart. The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 02-26-2008 well just sent the paypal for this BMV II Homemade chassis locked TLT axles w/ bearings. Front axles have RCP high clearance knuckles. bandit Trans? Maxx shafts, Moabs, pede rims HPI body What do you think The Official Crawler Thread - Ponch - 02-26-2008 Hey, cool. Let us know when it gets here... AND REQUEST THE NEXT COMP OFF DA&*IT! The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 02-26-2008 ill try The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 02-26-2008 cheater.... its not yours unless you built it yourself!!!! The Official Crawler Thread - firesprink281 - 02-26-2008 working on my buggy prototype made from brass and the start of the steel The Official Crawler Thread - BJoe - 02-26-2008 Racin' Ranger1 Wrote:well just sent the paypal for this Now how exactly does that chassis work? The Official Crawler Thread - rocco79 - 02-26-2008 yeah doesnt look like it will articulate at all.... And a bandit trans?!?! LoL!!! The Official Crawler Thread - BJoe - 02-26-2008 I'm wondering if the frame rails flex instead of having an actually suspension. Don't laugh at the Bandit/Rusty/Pede trans Rocco, those are pretty common in crawlers! The Official Crawler Thread - rocco79 - 02-26-2008 i would think you would need a tougher trans for the torque . I think your right about the frame The Official Crawler Thread - BJoe - 02-27-2008 The trans isn't exactly weak, plus once you add the internals from the VXL trucks it's alot more durable. Before I swapped the VXL in my Pede, I only wrecked one trans in that, my Bandit, and Rusty combined! The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 02-27-2008 yes the rails twist instead of like a 4 link setup. and i dont plan on running it like this forever i have to get links for my tuber and i will have my own creation. The Official Crawler Thread - Mnster - 02-27-2008 It's a torsion based design, they work very well as they weigh next to nothing. The downfall is they get sort of springy and unload like spring. A few guys were running them in my comp season last year. They work awesome on climbs, everything else is hit or miss. The rods flex to allow flex if that makes sense. The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 02-27-2008 Firesprink, that first design was sweeeet, second in steel isnt bad but I prefer the first. I experimented with a BMV style chassis last year, like Mnster said, great on climbs, everything else I didnt care for. If nothing else it will make a great donor. The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 02-27-2008 yeah im gonna try to compete with this one once i get it all good to go. then if i dont like it the tuber it is. someone said add weight to the tires how much should i add? stick ons or bbs? The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 02-27-2008 I use BB's and lead...Bb's prolly work best but lead is quieter (my opinion). I run between 3-4 ounces in each front tire....I think with that setup you might want 4 in each front and 2 in the rears. The BMV setup realy does take weight to work right. The Official Crawler Thread - Racin' Ranger1 - 03-04-2008 anything to help the flex a little? i really like the looks of it just need a pack to run it The Official Crawler Thread - Jetboat - 03-04-2008 from my experience with that chassis type you need weight in the tires for flex even then mine never flexed all tha much. |
