If 2 guys post it then it must be true!

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

So the fm is better than an AM because of interference? Or channel selection? Or servo response time(make sense?) I am just getting back into this stuff so bare with me.

All of the above. The FM radio that the LST happens to come with is synthesized, no crystals.

Check out the LST2, it has a slightly more powerful motor than the LST1, better tires, stronger arms, aluminum diff cases, stronger driveshafts, etc.

heimchr Wrote:Do they perform the same?

the lst2 handles ALOT better.

Also check out Savage-central.com, and LSTcentral.com for TONS of information on these 2 trucks.

FM will be less prone to intereference. Synthesized channels will allow you to avoid freq conflicts with other users. FM has greater range than AM. FM digital radios do allow use of digital servos which equate to faster response time over AM.

And NO, we wont BARE with you, pervert......Rolleyes

LST Vs. Savage? - FreeRideFrosty - 02-20-2006

Well he got his intitiation from dave. (Just don't go to hooters if they ask you. LoL)

The LST-2 is ver nice, very big, very expensive, and pretty strong. If you will be bashing I still say go with the savage. If you are bashing and may ever race... go with the revo. (Unless you become very good friends with rocco and set your savage up like his. I am still amazed every time I see it on the track...)

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

This is tough as sh*t! I don't know which one I want!!! Thanks for the info and links. Pretty much with a little cash(or maybe a lot) you can make them all awesome. Does the savage X come with the fastest stock motor?

LST Vs. Savage? - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 02-20-2006

Not sure about fastest..but HPI offers a three speed transmission that would make the Savage ready for Daytona if top speed is your selection criteria. Bashing or racing, top speed is seldom the most important thing, in my opinion.

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

Right now I am leaning toward the savage.......but the problem i am having is if I decide to race in the future. Decisions are tough!

LST Vs. Savage? - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 02-20-2006

This is me, saying what I would do, not telling you what to do.

I would go LST if you think you will race in the future because the radio system is more worthy and you wouldn't have to swap it later. There are a few (maybe 4-5) guys running LST's already, and only a few stock type Savages. It seems the LST guys are getting it done a bit better on the track than the stock Savages. Modified Savage (like Rocco's) are better than most but his is far from stock.

IF you don't see yourself going gonzo bashing....Revo's are a step ahead in stock form on the track over Savages. And can be upgraded. But they aren't the best bashers.

Are you completely confuzzled yet?

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

totally confuzzled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LST Vs. Savage? - Ponch - 02-20-2006

Ok, pretend you're in school and taking a test.

1) Which of these sounds best to you?

A)Decent Basher, ok racer, good radio.

B)Great Basher, Ok racer.

C)Ok Basher, Great Racer.

If you chose A), you got yourself an LST, B) Savage, C)Revo lol...

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

I like the way you put that. I would have to go with B since I am sure I will do minimal racing......at least till next winter cause I am busy in the summer.

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

Now the question is should I get a used savage or go for the savage x?

LST Vs. Savage? - RobH - 02-20-2006

savage x for ease of maintenance.

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

thanks guys....just need to figure out when and where to get it.

LST Vs. Savage? - thenewguy821 - 02-20-2006

Just a quick addition. If you are looking between the Savage and the LST, I would say Savage. Althought the LST2 has addressed a lot of the original problems. The LST2 has thicker axles, heavy duty arms, stronger chassis braces, a stronger c-hub design, and some other added upgrades (Threaded shocks, aluminum diff housings...) I have seen video of the LST2 in action, and it is a LOT more durable now than the original.

Also, from what some LST2 owners who have also had the LST have said, the LST2 handles better on the track than the first run LST's did.

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

Shit! Why did you have to add that!!!!!!!!! I like losi....i have the xxx-nt, but am selling it(after a month) because I decided I want something I can also raise hell with. Did the LST2 just come out this year? I just got back into this stuff a month ago

LST Vs. Savage? - thenewguy821 - 02-20-2006

LOL... Yeah, the LST2 just came out a couple months ago. I will try to find the video of the LST2 in action. After watching the landings the LST2 survived, my jaw hit the floor. As a previous owner of a first series LST, I was amazed at the torture the 2 took, and kept coming back for more.

As for speed, If tuned right, the Mach .26 (Mach.427 in the LST2) is a very fast engine. I ran 40% nitro through mine, and would keep up with, and occasionally run over buggies at the track. Although they would lose me on the corners. lol

LST Vs. Savage? - thenewguy821 - 02-20-2006

Here's the Video.

The LST and LST2 with the big tires is a little sluggish on acceleration, but if you change to the smaller size tires, the acceleration is quite fast. Some guys have been mounting 40 series Bowties on the Stock LST2 rims, with great results.

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

What do you drive now?

LST Vs. Savage? - heimchr - 02-20-2006

Thanks man! I am going to check it out

LST Vs. Savage? - kevinF - 02-20-2006

dude that video was amazing, except for the camera man he sucked at filming...

but great video.
