V spek like to run fat on the bottem. High speed and the midrange @ 2 oclock / is all ive ever changed. I have 2 and not much diffrence between them.
Thanks guys, ill try that stuff, but first i gotta get a new one of those plastic pieces that goes around the carb neck where it goes into the engine case at. I tried to get the carb off yesterday and that took forever, plus the little plastic thing was melted onto the case b/c we had to heat it up to get it out.
When i took apart the engine the other day i noticed that the top of the piston was a little burnt and black, does this mean i was running it too lean or is that normal?
A brown color to carbon color is normal. thats some deposits from the engine burning oil.
how many gallons are on this mill?~
about 4-5 maybe
how does it run now? still blowing plugs?
ya, havent ran it since i asked that question, but ill try it out soon.
If it still blows plugs id still say replace the rod
The rod was fine, i checked it. I think it was running a little to lean
did you measure it or just eyeball it?
Eyeballed
trust me your eyes are not a micrometer. even a few .001's of an inch is out of spec, throws off your compression ratio etc...

" I eyeballed it" Wow.... yeah that should be accurate. (Christ)
yeah...Hahaha.

If you've got micrometer eyes and a digital readout, go be an engineer.
I am going to be an engineer, and i know its my tuning because my bros engine, which i also tune, has been doing the same thing. Theyre running at like 250, you think i should richen them up a bit? Im resetting the needles so i can start over.
Nahhh.... Just keep putting plugs in them.
how many plugs = one rod?
like 4-6
rod is prolly like ~50 bucks
its $39.99. so your saying both rods in both of our engines are messed up?
Im not saying they are messed up im just saying there isnt much else to explain the popped plugs.... At the begining of all this you said it WASNT the tune so we all have thrown our .02 in the ring to help you.
its worth a try...replacing the rod in your 5 gallon mill might be a good idea. breakin stress, and 4.5-gallons of abuse.
I said it feels fine, not that it was fine, i still got alot to learn when it comes to tuning. Idk, i reset the tune, ill test it, and if get it all retuned. If thats not the problem, ill get the rod. Thanks guys.
you might as well do the bearings if your going to do the rod thats my plan with the p5
I just changed the front bearing when i had it apart
