Ho Bao is close to releasing the Hyper ST in the US, I talked to Rob at Nitro House, he had a million great things to say about the truck, even in rtr form, he was not even sure a pro kit will be available, but he said this thing rocks hardcore, I think this is calling my name, and since Im on unemployment for a couple more months, it only makes sense to save and get the hyper truggy..............Anyone know anything about this truck, seen it, heard about it? Plz share with me what you know, And hey guys, thx for helping the n00b guy out man, you guys have been really helpful, maybe this summer i can come to LH for a weekend and try to race in truggy class, to see how I can do. I could also try the 1/8 buggy, since i have a mint 9.5 mbx pro that is almost upgraded with full carbon /cnc, I just need a real engine / starter box. But I hope to meet some of you at the R.O.A.R. 1/8 gas nats in St. Louis this summerBig Grin

here is a link i found on the hyper with good close up pictures

Rob knows his stuff...I'm sure it will be a cool ride
yeah, Rob is super smart and very helpful as well, nice guy he is, he will take all day to talk, regardless of the knowledge of the person on the other end, every hobby shop needs a guy like him man.

ye i like what im hearing about this truck, jeremy Kortz is liking his prototype hes running, its a straight outta the box kit he is testing minus cnc knuckles, electronics / pipe / engine according to the info i read Smile
it doesnt look bad, im skeptical about the plastic everything lol i think u will end up breaking some stuff on that truck during some hard racing. The Hyper 8 has been quite capable since it came out, i dont think the truck will handle bad, a pro version would be nice to see
there will be a pro kit to follow the rtr, I just hung up with Nitro House, he said the rtr will be available in late Jan / early Feb...........then the pro kit will follow.........I will just get the rtr and put my radio / servos and pipe on it, and some different wheels / tires and body......... then start to upgrade it, he said he was pretty sure that their will be PCR line of upgrades. I wish i could afford the pro kit and NR528x =/ damnit I HATE WINTER!!!!!!! lol Smile
dude dont get that motor its wayyyyyyyyy to much power at about 4 minutes of run time lol
oh im not, lol, im just saying, I wish i had a stack of hunnies =D

nah man, I will run the rtr engine that comes with it, im not ready for a real engine yet........IMHO, Im still tinkering with cheap pull start engines until i can really tune / maintain..........In my situation, it makes no sense for me to have a race engine.......But man, when i put a jp-2 pipe on my force.26.......it helped it out bigtime on the bottom / mid end........Im still learning, I need to post some pics of my buggy, Is there a buggy picture thread anywhere?
Truggy looks like it has potential. I would definitely want aluminum towers, shockcaps/ends, stuff like that. I like the transponder mount. LoL
a few more pics, better quality (wonder why they used the hyper 7 radio box, and not the 8? These are also prototype pics, so the materials may be diffenet when released..who knows)

body looks like a Chevy forget the name but its a newer one lol the battery box is lame as hell i hate the way that looks
Needs a different radio box and body for sure.... I understand it is a RTR body but that doesn't mean it needs to be fugly...
That thing is UGLY!!! The body at least. A CP2.0 will be manditory, lol.
And why does the HoBao portion of Ofna not even advertise taht they are ofna anymore?? The word Ofna is nowhere on that....
because HoBao is the ofna for Europe and Asia, and where do u think that truck started? ofna is more American based and plus i bet since the ofnas got such a shit name with all the crappy hypers they had out already, they must think this is a fresh change. Bradely is sponsored by Hobao not jammin, he just chooses to run the jammin truck.
correct, the x1-cr and crt are hong nor based vehicles, man i love my hong nor 9.5, hell the platform was designed by Jay Halsey, Halsey, Drake and The Dunn Boys, they all ran 9.5's.....its a good car IMO, I like ofna, and i dig the support they give on their product.

Are their any 9.5's at LH that compete? I know its a lil outdated, but after all, the x1-cr was designed from it, and parts support / availavility is good Smile
sorry but ur wrong their....the jammin buggy is a carbon copy of the kanai 2 buggy its almost identical. The ofna 9.5 etc was never really a race buggy and the only guy that drove one for a little while was paul coleman
not trying to act like i know evrything, but here ya be, I have Drakes setup for a 9.5 if you wanna see that as well, they DID run 9.5's, Halsey co-designed it.

With more than seven kits and ready-to-run machines currently available, OFNA has the biggest stable of 1/8-scale buggies in RC. Performance-wise, OFNA's best (if you measure “best” by which buggy Team OFNA and “Jammin'” Jay Halsey choose to race) is the 9.5, which is now available in an RTR version as well as the “Pro” kit raced by the team

heres the article
http://www.rccaraction.com/articles/ofna95.asp

and another i copy/pasted
Jammin' Jay Halsey is one of RCs all-time great drivers and personalities, and he is currently campaigning the latest OFNA buggies along with the rest of the Jammin team. In addition to helping OFNA refine its 9.5 racing buggy, Jay has also dialed in a new line of Jammin tires. The Ripper and Shredder tires and their proprietary "Mega Traction" compound were tweaked over two years of on-track testing and competition, and the tires are molded in-house using a unique new method. According to Jay, the result Is a super-true tire with precise sidewall and bead thickness.

and yes, the x1cr is loosely based on the 9.5
u may be right on the 9.5, but explain why just about every part off a Kanai 2 will fit right onto a jammin? shock towers, bulkheads diffs, etc will bolt right on. The jammin is a competetive car, the other ofnas aside from possibly the 8 are not
I must be gay or something cause I like the looks of that thing
sounds more like a personal problem lol
I dunno bro, I have never owned a Kanai or Jammin, so you very well may be correct, the Kyosho 7.5 is very similar to 9.5 as well

nah Nitro - that truck is gonna pwn i bet
man u most like ofnas...Wink
lol....yeah I do bro, mainly from the support I have got in reference to their product, I like to know my stuff on my gear, I dont have much, but I'm learning, and they have been very helpful Smile
any more comments / suggestions in reference to this Hyper ST ?
