I still prefer to RACE in a course, I don't even care the course has only 3 turns and 1 straight...as long as it is within a area so CARS will follow the line and race.
Bashing on the parking lot may be fun for someone, but when I was running mine last time when there were a few 60mph plus MT left and right within a few feet away from me........that was scary.
Solara Wrote:TRANSPONDER....? Someone even setup a lap counting system over there..? WOW.......this bashing thing is getting bigger and bigger now...

Last night there were two places on the huge lot where people were running. Northside near the emtrance was bashers, south end guys had setup an oval course. One of the guys has an I-Lap Lap Timing system on the oval. The transponders he's talking about are the I-Lap transponders, not AMB.
Whitey04 Wrote:Yeah we will be there tomorrow, and if you show up please ask for me, I've been dieing to meet you. I've heard your name all over the place but never actually seen you. Thanks, Gene.

Hey Whitey....good to meet you last night. Me and the boys had fun. It's a great place to tune and test. As usual we met up with a bunch of people we knew from tracks, hobbyshops and just bashing. Smile

We were having a conversation but I got busy wrenching with Cooper. If you want to talk more about some of things we touched on feel free to email me.

So....anyone thinking about going but have never been there.....it's a fun time. Go and have fun. We got there about 10pm and stayed just past 1am.
You guys have a huge amount of space there. If you ever wanted to add a road course I came up with an inexpensive way to simply create track barriers, ask and I can fill you in. You could easily create a 100 foot by 60 foot track with all the space you have......

Fill us in, might be worth it. I need better tires before i race though, the Hyper 1/7 didn't like the IGT tires (not that I've ever heard good things about them)

What he does to make a track is pretty in genius. I'd of never thought about it. But if anyone is serious about racing contact ChicagoKenji. He's already got a place and track with a ton of support already. If you like on-road this is the guy to talk to. (ChicagoKenji) Nice to meet you as well I'm gonna have to come up and check out some of that parking lot racing you where talking about.

:o:

Me and the boys have been racing at lot's the tracks within 100miles these past years. We don't know it all, but we have gotten lots of experience from all the places.

Me and Coop have been running Strictly RC's parking lot Sunday races this year....fun place. There's already a thread here on chitown about it.

since the above photos I've added Road Domes to critical places to keep marshalling and bad crashes from happening.

Essentially it's:

10 foot sections of 3/4 inch PVC

"Swimmie Noodles" bought by the huge case at the Dollar Store. I think I won about 60 of them.

Homemade sandbags. Take inexpensive ripstop dropcloth, cut into aprox 32 inch squares, pour a pile of pea gravel into the middle of it. Fold one edge over and duct tape it. Fold the other edge over and duct tape that and then wrap two times around with another length of duct tape...and you have a sand bag.

We can create an aprox 100foot x 50 foot layout in about 15minutes, if we create a drawing before hand. All the stuff easily fits into the back of the minivan...and all the materials totaled under 250 bucks.

I also have a 3 gallon lawn sprayer with shoulder strap. I use dollar store pancake syrup. Two bottles of it mixed into warm water in the sprayer and use that for traction in the turns.ghb
Niiiice... Big Grin
If you guys are setting up a race course I gotta be there and check it out.Plus there's always a chance Chip will pull out in front of Tim and get his car Fubar-ed.SmileSmile
I think i am going to check out the races there tonight. Still have the oval coarse there? I will bring my jammin buggy so Tim dont beat up on everyone......

i was out at the kohls parking lot for a lil bit. there were only bout 10 people out there...1 guy was breakin in his dm-1, i tuned a new guys buggy, and i smoked my brand new bump box so i didnt run.

it was nice to hang out for a lil bit anyways. the weather the last few days was givin me cabin fever.
Ouch...How'd you kill a starter box?
i dunno...
i was just tryin to start the buggy and the box started smokin. i popped off the top and the lil plastic fan blades in the motors were melted.

its brand new too, i just bought it last friday.

i think its because the box isnt made to kick over a .32
its the losi bump box.

no worries though, imma just take it back and grab a new one
