Hi guys,

After being absent from hobby for about a year I got inspired to rebuild my S-Maxx!

Some of you might remember me, but most probably won't.

DO-U-MAXX, remember that FullForce CF chassis and UE Braces you sold me? Well, the chassis broke where it mounts to the front bulkhead... I learned that I shouldn't buy anymore CF until I learned to drive better. Fortunatelly, I put the braces to good use and using them with stock chassis until I get Predator.

Here is what I ordered last week and everything should be getting here soon:
WideTrac Kit (full kit) and UE Servo Saver ($200 for those two)
Different shims for differential
Yokomo differential grease hard
Venom battery pack 1200Mah
Vision Peak 2 charger
Hitec 645MG steering servo
MIP Shiny CVDs for the rear (truck is RWD)
RPM Carriers
AVID bearings for whole truck
Prolly getting .18 CV-RX or TM if I have enough money Smile

I hope it runs nicely after rebuild. I really want to get with you guys sometime and race at the new leisure track when it opens. Should be fun, but I suck so I'll be last anyway (if I finish at all).

I was also wondering about my radio. I won't get new one for now but I guess I should get a set of crystals? I have the red one now. If I will be getting new radio it will either be JR XS3 or Spektrum DSX.

Ohh, almost forgot, does anybody have a carb for TRX 2.5 that I could buy cheap for now? I broke mine and stripped some screw holes as well.

Well that's it for now, I hope to get some pics when I finish too.

Matas
Buy Dave's Revo for $375 and dump the S-Maxx.
Lol, why?
dont listen to him. Just run what you want altho the race tracks are dominated with nothing but revo's for the production mt class. Good to see your back. I remember you

Alright, I'll become a pro in driving and racing and own all of your Revos. Then you'll run to buy Maxx again. Lol, like that's gonna happen Smile
Don't listen to that advise about getting the Revo. Build what you like.

Smart choice going with UE. I think there are a few guys like me out here that are running the Supermaxx products. The Supermaxx steering servo saver is the best. The wide track is also a good choice. I use the stiffest spring on the servo saver. Thats what I run on my Predator with an Airtronics 200oz steering servo. I guess it would be a little different if you have no front diff because you wouldn't have any torque steer.
I am one of those people that run UE products. Great choice. I plan on racing my maxx if it ever gets back together.
Matas, Ryan just wants another person in the production MT class to beat up on since everyone is jumping ship and going to truggy.

C'mon Ryan, at least let the guy have a chance by racing a Revo!
instead of me telling him on how to spend his money il just let him spend it however he wants to. Not everyone likes to drive a revo. Its not the worlds most popular truck and everyone doesnt have to have one to win a race. I told him revo's have been nothing but podium trucks in its class but if he can wheel a maxx truck around fast why should he get a revo? Lighten up dude, its just a hobby.
Ryan, C'mon, you know the truth. Running an S-Maxx is even worse than running a Savage, LST, or a Trinity Spyder. It's not going to win and it's just no fun when you know you don't have a chance in H__l of winning.

And yes, The Revo IS the worlds' most popular new production MT racing truck.
just run a truggy and u will beat all the production mt's lol

You, my friend, are destroying all my fun. I just shelled out $350 and I have a feeling that I should have bought a Revo instead. Damn idiotic me.
Hmm, how about if I would get that chassis, what it's called, JT and make a truggy? Is that possible?
I agree with michowski and maxxgs. Here's what I think. In the end, it's a hobby, and it's supposed to be fun. You build and race and bash whatever truck is fun to you. Build what you like.

I raced a savage and sucked bad with it, but I still raced it. Why you ask? I liked that truck. It was a great basher, easy to maintain, and didn't break much (until I had an unfixable ring and pinion issue). I got some great high flying antics on tape with the truck and loved every minute of it.

Bottom line is do what is fun for you, not what others say is fun. Everyone has their own opinion and it's exaclty that, an opinion.
matas, from your list, you've made some good choices in parts. My advice is to put it together and have fun with it. Smile.
I'm sure MOST people here would support your decision to build and run what YOU want to run. Some people have the god syndrome, and feel that their choice is the ONLY choice. Don't listen to them.

I also remember meeting you a couple times. Fix that S-Maxx up, and have a blast. That's what this hobby is all about anyway....
No God complex here. Just the truth (like Jesus always shared). Have fun with your S-Maxx as long as you can heathen and then remember that "The Word" was given to you and you CHOSE not to follow! It's not too late to REPENT and cast that S-Maxx from your midst and come to the light that is REVO!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL....

Didn't mean to come off as a jerk bruce, but not everyone has the same opinions. If we all dressed the same, acted the same, drove the same cars, owned the same stuff, where would our individuality come in? Thank god we live in America, and can make our own decisions.... Confusedalute:
omg
I'm just having fun too, but I think anyone who really is being truthful with the guy knows, and should convey, the FACT that the Revo is a much better race vehicle than an S-Maxx.

I just don't think it's right to lead the guy astray. It's NOT an opinion, it's a Fact.

And Ryan, and whomever would disagree, why don't you swap vehicles with the guy at the next race? After all, it's just a hobby and for fun right?
ok i will race a maxx truck if someone will let me. And when I beat you with it will you please just drop this stupid argument and just let the guy have fun with his truck?
Sad thing here Bruce, the guy asks for advice on HIS truck and HIS radio. You right away bash his decision tells him he has no chance in **** and he needs to go out and buy a Revo. I don't think your sponsors would be happy with this attitude!!! YOu are suppose to be helpful, take a hint from some of local sponsored guys, they are always there to take the time and help out and answer questions. (Joe T. , Sonny, and Mike C, all took time out last Sat to help me with an issue, that is what sponsored drivers are suppose to do.)[I]
Maybe try and help the guy out!!!!!! BY answering his questions and giving advice, not crush his dreams and excitement of his new sportmax. There are alot of people that are just in this for fun, they dont have to win all the time. Alot are in this hobby to make friends and enjoy the hobby. I for one have more fun in the pits talking **** with the other racers alot I consider friends now. YOu figure on a typical big race, you maybe are on the track 45 minutes or so ((3) 5 min quals, and a 30min a main (if your lucky)) and you might be at the tracj 12-14 hours. So most of that time is enjoying the hobby and talking with fellow racers. It would be a long 12-14 hours if you had no friends to talk to not to mention the train ride there and back.

SO maybe you should think about that before telling some guy his stuff is crap, and just offer some help. Also the guy might be like 15 or so and has a limited budget not all of us have such a famous past and have infinite dollars.

SO in closing, To Rond3L enjoy your sportmaxx, upgrade when something breaks and budget allows, but most of all enjoy the hobby and make a few friends. Thats the approach I took, and I love this hobby and have made alot of friends. If you ask me thats better than a bowling trophy for racing toy cars anyday
Thanks for all opinions. I think I'll keep S-Maxx especially since I can't see myself shelling out another $400 for a Revo which I would then modify like nuts and spend even more money.

So, how about JT chassis, any opinions? I haven't done any mods to the chassis except the braces. If I could get some used kit, would it be worth it? I know handling will be increased ungodly amount because of the lower CG (I had Gorilla Maxx E-Maxx with low CG and it was not possible to flip the damn thing).

Matas
r0nd3l, do you already have a JT Chassis ?

Very well said, thank you. Made me feel much better Smile I think being 16 and soon 17 I have a lot of money, but the thing is I spend it so damn fast. Between buying stuff to the car (spoilers, wheels, etc), car payments, and buying R/C stuff I don't have much left usually...
