sound deadening!!
#26
Ugggh... All this talk of sound deadening I cranked mine today on lunch and stood outside of it for a rattle check. Yeah I'm going to have to do some deadening and tightning.

My setup.. overkill bass. 1 12" Audiomobile Mass 2000 wired for 2 ohms with a HiFonics Titan 1550D and a 1.5f cap. HU is an older Pioneer MP3 head unit fronts are just come Polk audio speakers I think.. lol I forgot. the only thing I'd like to do is amp the fronts and mabey some better quality fronts. as it is now I can easily drown out the mids and highs with the Bass.. lol.

Right now I have the 10 W3's in sealed boxes. I think that I am going to 1 10 inch Brahma in either a ported or sealed box. It should hit a little harder and just as clean with less power. If that route doesn't work out then I will be getting 2 12" Diamond Audio D6's.

My main reason for deadening is the ultra thin sheet metal on the xb. I only grt rattles in the common places but the road and wind noise kills all audio. Its crazy how quiet the front is now. some time this summer I do every thing but the head liner. I still have about 100 sq/ft or so sitting in my closet.

Looks like a Adire Brahma 10. I don't like the ultra long excusrion 10"s because they have soo little cone area. Long excursion subs are sure fun to watch though!!

Imagine this though.. The real madman sub from Adire is the Tumult.. that bad boy 12" sub has some silly 33mm xmax (thats 33mm of travel in ONE direction vs 28mm xmax in the sub in that vid vs 27mm out of my 12"). Only downfall of the long excursion subs is the sheer amount of power you need to really push them.

My car is actually sealed really well from the factory. I told the guy that I want it for sure. He is holding it for me untill I sell mine. $285 shipped from Florida... That thing is a 37 pound beast!! I am getting specs on a box and am going to make a nice ported box tuned to about 33 hertz. I should have a nice amp rack built and a real clean install. After I get started I will post up pics of everything. Hehehe... bass. :-)

These can actually hit tight and fast too. (And yes it's the Adire Brahma... and the Timult is insane) My amp is perfect for it. The sub takes between 5 and 600 watts RMS depending on whether it is the 2 or 4 ohm DVC model. My Amp puts out 1200 watts stable at 1 Ohm, 600 watts at 2 ohms, and 500 watts at 4 ohms... PERFECT. In comparison with some of the other large excursion subs the Brahma is actually one of the most efficient and uses the least power...

I know their 12" brahma is in the $350 shipped so $285 shipped is a damn good price for that sub good hting you junped on it asap!

I've been contemplating getting a new setup for my car but just have not found any other subs I really like. I should probably get a cleaner install for my stuff but I want it to be easily removable so yeah I dunno what I want to do.. lol.

Yeah... My back seat tips back a bit so I am going to build my box to follow the back of the seat and then the front is going to slant back as well. It is going to be about half the width of my trunk and the baffle will run accross the bottom of the box. On the right I am going to run the amp at the same angle as the face of the box... but recessed so that I can lay a piece of plexi level with the front of the box. I think I am going to very neatly Dremel the MA Audio and/or Adire Audio Logo into it and then backlight it so it stands out. I am going to mount a fan to run air out near the base as well... When all is done as long as I take my time cutting, gluing, and carpeting it should come out very nice.

I am going to mount it to my false floor but make sure that I can take it out. I plan on doing a little bit of work to the GTI in the upcoming months and want to take it to the strip to play around this summer. If I do I will pull the sub and amp with the false floor and back seats at home... and then just pop the spare out at the track. In the GTI it is a piece of cake and saves a lot of weight when you add all of that up...

And I was AMAZED at how well these subs hold their value. I see people selling them at barely under what they paid for them... they are a bit difficult to get at times and nowhere near as well known as the big brands like infinity, JL, MTX, Kicker... etc.

Sound slike you go the plan. Also god idea with making the setup removable. I should keep my electronics but build a clean looking setup for my car. right now its really rigged but its easy to remove.

Yup.. the off brand subs are usually the best. Heck the Audiomobile subs like the one I have were only made for 2 years before the company went under. After that they were bought up like mad to use in home audio custom made boxes. I still see Audiomobile subs sell on ebay for $150.. thats good money for a 4 year old used sub!

Definitely. I loved the JL's but buying them new is CRAZY!!!They are overpriced IMO. That is why I think asking $200 for the W3's with boxes is a pretty good deal... I still need to pick up some 3/4 MDF and some Gorilla Glue... Ugh. More money...

I was looking into the specs of that sub some more. I am amazed at how well it is designed... now I just need to find a glass guy for when I blow the back window out...

And how did you like the Brahma?? My subs haven't sold as a deal fell through. I feel bad leaving this guy hanging in Florida... I need to sell my RC stuff. It also looks like I may beggeting my car sponsored. I am working on getting a GHL exhaust, lowered, sway bar, injectors, stage II chip, intercooler inlet and outlet pipe, turbo inlet pipe and then go from there. I will be doing the cstom setup in the trunk and may do some interior work. I refuse to go rice though. This will be clean...
