My buddy is going to pickup a 1/8th scale buggie over the next couple days. He's already got a 3PK and we'll shop around for some strong servos, but he needs engine and pipe recommendations. He will be racing at leisure's so he wants to be competitive.
what engine and pipe do you guys recommend?

.21 only unless its like a new person that bought a rtr buggy with a .26. They will allow that.

save your money, he is just starting out i am assuming, tell him to get an OS RG with a OS2050 pipe, in this case the pipe cost more than the motor, motor is about 90$ and runs strong, it is plenty for indoor racing at LH

also the TTR long and short pipes are also very good on almost all motors, very durable as well

yep, if he's new to racing have him drop in a OS RG...I think they are like $110-130 price range. That will get him through this year and it won't have so much power that its uncontrolable.

What buggy is he getting?
Mugen MBX5T
RBS5
RB2045
Futaba 3PM
Hitec 5955, 5965

I agree...I took the V-spec out and put in a weaker motor(sportwerks.21)and lap times went up. Now running 10 laps with buggy.

MBX5T - O.S.
MBX5R - Novarossi
