Sony makes excellent video cameras, and zeiss lenses are incredible. I am not crazy about the DVD recording however. 3" discs are pretty small. Tape has been the standard for many years and has excellent R&D behind it. I'm sure quality wont suffer much with a 3" disc. I wouldn't use it as an external DVD burner either as it says it can be used as, you'll shorten the life of the camera. Discs are more prone to damage as well. I would go with tape, you'll get longer run times and you'll have greater picture fidelity. Other than just that issue it looks like a good camera. On sonys site the have a pdf on the specs. The list run times as: High quality 20mins, standard quality 30 mins and long play (which is high compression) 60 mins.
