Pure methane(methanol,nitromethane) burns without a flame in daylight, you could be on fire and no one would know. NitroMethane burns lazily, that is to say it does not burn as fast as gasoline. Nitromethane requires less oxygen to burn than gasoline. It will burn for extended periods compared to gasoline. Nitromethane also produces Nitric acid in vapor form and when inhaled contricts bronchial tubes making it impossible to breathe. You either have to have a large open or well ventilated area or a gas mask when in close proximity to large amounts of nitromethane exhaust fumes.
