Okay, what did you MUGEN guys do to my ST-R????? j/k
Expensive night for me I must say. I'm only glad I was able to laugh about it. It's only an r/c vehicle and it can be rebuilt/replaced, besides that it was fairly exciting. Wish I had a video of it.
I took a quick look at it last night and for the life of me I can't figure out what made it stick wide open. I lost control of the throttle and steering going down the straight away no less. I assuming it was most likely receiver related (spektrum failure??) but I'm not sure. I'm even more confused at what caused the nitro fuel (which needs compression to ingnite) to start on fire??? It looks like there's about a 30-40% loss overall. The body, gas tank, rear uni, front shock tower and hinge pins as well as some of the front plastic got the worst of it. The engine and pipe seem to be okay and that's a relief. I'll send in the servos and receiver and have them repaired/replaced since they seem like they weren't scorched (too bad if at all).
Needless to say I'm buying a Mugen and will assess the damage on the ST-R and will decide whether to rebuild or cut my losses. I have a lot of spares so that might help me get it back to a roller.
