That's cheap!!! Shop rates are more than double that. The painter himself may make that but a true custom paintjob....just leave the check blank.
Most of the custom shops I've worked at have shop rates in the $55-$70 per hr. range. The majority of that type of work is a T&M basis with a ballpark quote. $6500 usually being the low end most being in the $10-$12K range.
It's not hard to have $2500 or more just in paint material for a 1:1 project.
