The Latest Revo Mods
#1
Well after Saturday's race I figured it was time for the revo to shed some weight and get some much need modifications. I now have a wing (I think it was profile) mounted using the LSP mount, a JR 8800T high torque digital steering servo, the aluminum single servo arm, the RD Logics aluminum brace, a partially cut Titanium skid, the Teckno throttle servo mount to eliminate that box, a shaved reciver box, and an eliminated roll hoop.

Here is the wing. It is mounted a tad crooked but for the money and eyeballing it it turned out very nice and VERY solid.

In this pic you can see that I cut and trimmed the Titanium skid so the front 1/3 is now gone, you can see the bottom of my reciever on one side and the single servo on the other as well as the aluminum steering arm and upper brace.

This shows the servo from above and the Teckno mount that eliminated the throttle servo box.

This pic shows the cut down reciever box that now houses just the reciever pack. I RTVed the AMB to the top of it so it is in a easy spot to see (I may make a small splash guard to make sure fuel doesn't hit it...), I also moved the reciever foreward and RTVed it directly to the chassis. The antenna tube is RTVed into one of the holes that belonged to the steering servo and the antenna is then run through that. It came out pretty good.

Now my question... should I run the steering servo guard on my one servo or is it not necessary???

I sure would guard the servo. I was cleaning clay off every surface on the bottom (and top)of the Revo last night!! Those guards took some hits from pipes, ground, rocks, etc...

Can you get a clearer closeup picture of how that wing mount went thru the shock tower?

Looking good. Keep the guard, it doesnt weigh that much. I would also put the roll bar back on. And if you need double sided tape for your reciever and transponder let me know. I have a roll thats about 18" round.

I siliconed the reciever and AMB where you see them now. They are stuck good. LoL. And I will put the guard back on. Actually the reason it is off now is that I forgot to put it back on... LoL. I tried to get a better pic of the wing mount but with my phone I couldn't. I had to dremel off the top mounts from the bumper and chose to just take the bumper off. Then they are just 4 holes drilled through with some spacers. I can show you some time at the track...

Oh... and I may put the roll bar back on if I get a new motor and really car about the head. For the stock 2.5r I am not to worried...

and that those skids off, stockers work just fine for racing. No need for that unwanted weight.

Honestly it might have been the RD Racing one. RD Logics just came out. I will check the parts tags when I get home. I may ditch the rest of the Ti skid... not sure yet.

Ditch the Ti skid plate! It's uneeded Smile. The stock stuff works just fine.

Also, I've been told that the upper brace is not needed at all. It's there from the factory (with bump stops in it) to limit newbies from over steering the truck.

I know mine will be coming off before the next race Smile.

Steve slayden still runs his for the fact that he said you can jam things up without one by oversteering the wheels one way or another ( I read the traxxas forum on sgrid..... Gotta know what the enemy is doing! LOL!!!)

but if you set up your epa's correctly you wont have that problem. I think most people can setup there epa's to not ever steer and damage parts.

Yeah... that is the piece that I got. Not the bottom brace with stops. Everything is working awesome. (I did take the piece with the stops off) Everything is just about dry and RTR again. Should be all set with only minimal tuning on Sunday...
