I wouldn't buy that maxx for $250. There is a better one out there within arms reach. I would just skip that one. Do-u-maxx's T is way better(not that it would be $250, but). I would see if Do's deal falls through and keep looking on ebay in the meantime. Maybe something better pops up.

Yeah, I won't buy that, looks too suspicious. How about this one? If I could lower the price even more that would be worth it. I would also have enough for replacement parts if needed. E-mailed him for pics.

check this one , I bet if you offered $300 shipped you could get a really new s-maxx for a good price.
My buyer just confirmed the sale will be completed at the end of this month so I really don't think mine will be available.
That looks like pretty good deal. Below are the pics of T-maxx I found for $175.
Description: "2.5 TMaxx. Brand new clutch, clutch bell, RR Steel spur gear, BRAND NEW chassis, linkage, 2 bodies, 2 sets of wheels and tires. One set of tires is on road one is stock. Motor in excellent shape, not much fuel through it. Here some pics. I should also mention that in addition to what you read on the board, the truck comes with a 2 speed forward only transmission, GPM skid plates, a set of onroad tires, 2 bodies, new exhaust, and a TON of extra parts for suspension, engine and so forth." He said that this is old chassis installed. New linkage, chassis, and braces are still in the bag.
Doesn't look very clean...
Here is another one for $250 shipped. Ok, now I'm confused... So many trucks lol

Is throttle linkage and bellcrank same thing? Because new one comes with truck, as well as chassis and braces.
09-23-2004, 05:12 PM
the bellcrank is the little black thing, the throtle linkage is all the chit! but the BC should be right up next to the moter and the carb should be turned 180 degres.
i would pass on that truck!

here just save up every penny you find until your 50 and you can afford this one
Seriously, there are so many different truck setups with ranging prices. If you are looking for a first truck, do not get one that is all beat up that will need some looking over before you know its satisfactory for driving. I would look for an almost new truck like the one I posted for you. Spend the little more money and get one in great shape. Now obviously I do not know that seller in any way so I can not vouge for anything that he has listed but that is the kind of trucks you should be going after. I can even do you one better, get a sportmaxx new on ebay for $309-$319. BRAND NEW, and you could upgrade later to 4wd and 2-speed tranny when you get more funds. Heck most of us would probably have the parts we could help you out with if you went that route. I just made that truck I am selling into 4wd with parts I had laying around. Bottom line is decide how much you want or have to spend, figure out what you need to have and can live without, then go looking for a vehicle. You have to be the judge whether or not you have the ability to inspect, disassemble, clean, re-assemble or repair anything that may be damaged or worn on a used truck. Good luck.

That truck looks okay... A few issues on it though. The battery box and switch hang down below the chassis braces and skid plate, Just begging to rip the battery pack off, and send your truck on an unstoppable rampage.
Also, in the heading, it says "Super Maxx", but I didn't see any UE parts listed. Isn't "Super Maxx" a patented name?

I decided to get S-Maxx (2 speed, no reverse). It's $309 from towerhobbies with shipping, discount, and sales tax. I wanna buy failsafe too, isthis a good one? I want to get on-board temp gauge, but traxxas one is disscounted and others are not in stock. Should I get the wireless one (not on-board)? How about fuel? Are there are any cheaper, but as good as Top Fuel? If not I'll use top fuel.
Here is what I have in my cart: STADIUM MAXX 2WD TRUCK RTR A2 Ofna Micro Fail Safe Unit DuraTrax FlashPoint Infrared Temperature Gauge Traxxas Top Fuel 20% Quart (2) DuraTrax Kwik-Pit 500cc Fuel Bottle
09-24-2004, 02:26 PM
Sounds good to me, nice choice. I have the Venom FS and love it, I heard good things about the OFNA one too. I also have the on board Venom temp gauge and like that alot as well, some prefer the infrared temp gauges but so far I like mine. Top fuel you can get locally for $23 a gallon. I run O'donnells as highly recommended by alot of people in the hobby. I used Top fuel in my 2.5 and it ran good. Trinity smells better though and is great fuel and I think better than Top Fuel but those are just my .02. Just do not start a topic on which fuel to buy, too many opinions.

stadium maxx is a good buy. FOC and good tires. all I would do right away is pullstart. I have a new venom failsafe for sale $10

First weee. I'm going to order it today probably. Tex, tell me your paypal and price with shipping. Anybody have pullstart and tuned pipe for sale?
09-24-2004, 03:00 PM
The ez start is great for learning how to tune your motor. If you can tune decent, then switch to pull start and loose the excess weight. If you are learning, especially if its your first 2.5, keep it for a while and get to know your motor. I just took mine off my .21 and I miss the convenience, but not the weight. The S-maxx is a great truck and you will be more than impressed with it.
Being 2WD is great for racing, but if you do more bashing you will want to upgrade to 4WD in the future. Should be cheap upgrade givin the nice people around here, I will help you if I can when the time comes (if ever) you want to go that route. You should buy that Venom gauge from Tex, thats a sweet price on a great piece of equipment, and get the fuel locally. That will help you save some $$$ and get you well started.
09-24-2004, 03:17 PM
As for the fuel, Stick with the Top Fuel for the Maxx. It is the recommended fuel for the 2.5. I will have a very nice RD Logics pipe up for sale pretty soon. That pipe really wakes up the 2.5. I would keep it, but it will take some work to use it with the Sirio. The Duratrax temp guage is good. If you really want an onboard, The Venom and MIP temp guages are the exact same thing as the Traxxas one, for less money.
Good luck with the new truck, and just be patient with it. Make sure to break it in just like the book says. When you go to tune it, don't only rely on temps, also watch to see that there is a steady stream of blue-ish smoke coming from the exhaust.
09-24-2004, 03:43 PM
how much will u be letting the RD Logics pipe go for?

Probably $30. I paid $35 and a set of crystals for it....
09-24-2004, 04:00 PM
newguy, you running a sirio .18 or just the BB pipe?
Towshen, thats a sweet pipe, if you want your 2.5 to scream, thats the way to do it. Even rond3l should look into it for his new s-maxx for that price.
09-24-2004, 04:02 PM
Will be running the Sirio .18 and big bore..... Not installed yet.
