LMAO!!!!

Trinity Must be total garbage man!

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - FreeRideFrosty - 10-26-2008

Could it be something other than the batts causing it to go bad?? The other electronics on the truck? I find it odd that two packs would blow in the same manner.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - BJoe - 10-26-2008

I've been running 7.2v 4600mAh Trinity Reference packs and old Dynamite 3300mAh packs in the truck and those work fine. The Reedy 4500mAh 7.2v Rocket Packs don't like the truck much better, but have yet to go boom. Those packs seem to work fine in my Pede and I didn't have a problem with that 8.4v pack in my Pede (that's the one in the vid I posted of the truck.) untill a few days ago when it didn't seem to want to take a proper charge. I kept telling myself not to risk it, but did I listen to myself........no:pow: Luckily there were no customers in the area that it blew at that time (fortunetly it was pretty dead at that time!)

Went and got the camera this morning and finally got them loaded.
right by the truck

The black dot infront of the shelf is the latch on the rear cooling vent and the long black spot in front of the SCX display is the battery door

Can you believe such a little battery could make such a huge mess!

Here's the star of this little show

I got a hold of Trintiy and they gave me an RA number to send this battery in under, should get it sent out Friday or Saturday.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Krosenqu - 10-31-2008

Shit Joe, I'd be on the phone in a fury. One pack is unacceptable... two in the same fashion? Holy shit! I'd be a mess!

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - rcguy8038 - 11-02-2008

Wow 2 packs blew up?!Better add some lipo's on your Christmas wishlist!

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - BJoe - 11-02-2008

Thing that worries me about Li-Po is that if I don't buy one with a high enough burst rating, I'll be trading an explosive battery for an incendiary one. I can repair this damage to the truck for fairly cheap, even at full retail the parts cost is less than $10, but if it catches fire...this truck is boned to the Nth degree!

After severe crash:
Li-Pos only catch fire if you abuse them beyond recognition. I had my pack fly out of my truck a few times:o: and its still running.

Really painfull video to watch.. but yeah. The battery is still running great.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - rcguy8038 - 11-08-2008

At least it didn't hit that car there Kevin.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - AddictedtoNITRO - 11-08-2008

hey Joe, I just had one of my dtx 4200 sxs packs heat up so bad it melted the skin on my thumb pulling it out of the [ede, I emailed duratrax and asked about any warranty with those packs. They told me the next day That there was no warranty on those packs but they were sending me a new pack for my problems. Up to this point they were great packs. great runtime, good power etc. Looks like I'll keep using them. Thats good customer support.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - rcguy8038 - 11-08-2008

Duratrax is my favorite rc brand.Everytime I broke something they have sent me a replacement.Never got my dtx 4600 hot though...

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - J-Dub - 11-09-2008

Lol...nice song on the video...Listen to Dance FM?
Also..I must say those are some pretty mangled hinge pins! haha

J-Dub Wrote:Lol...nice song on the video...Listen to Dance FM?

Yeah, I do lol... And yes, those were some pretty mangles hinge pins... I dont even know why I put up with them. They always bend! Just shows you how flexable the arms and bulkhead are.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - J-Dub - 11-10-2008

they probably make an aluminium bulk...but you would probably end up breaking something else. haha.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - BJoe - 11-11-2008

Look at the New Era bulkhead, I've beat the one on my Pede pretty hard and it's held up well for the past few years.

I sent the battery in last week right before leaving town for a pre christmas mini-vacation, just forgot to put the RA number in the boxConfusedmash: I'd love to go to Li-Po's and doubt that I'd have problems with them taking abuse since I rarely have wrecks like Kev's, I'm more woried about how well they'll take a sever discharge. If I'm blowing up Ni-MH packs, what can I do to a Li-Po?

We've got some of the 4200 packs for the SV27's but they have deans plugs on them. I'm begining to think the SXS is the way to go on this truck though.

Wait, your not using deans?

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - BJoe - 11-11-2008

Don't need to, the truck has the TRX plugs on it.

BJoe Wrote:Don't need to, the truck has the TRX plugs on it.

Ahh, thats right, I forgot about thoseSmile

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - BJoe - 11-22-2008

Got home from work last night and the replacement pack was waiting for me! I think that was maybe 3 weeks turn around and I put about 5 minutes on them today behind the store and I didn't blow any of the battery doors off either:joy:

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - J-Dub - 11-23-2008

If I blew 2 up I would change brands pretty quickly.

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - BJoe - 12-02-2008

Tried them out today, worked good until my rearward motor started to smell like it was going to release the magic smoke so I had to stopRolleyes

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - AddictedtoNITRO - 12-02-2008

a titan burning up? No way lol
Time for the mmm combo!

Kablooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - BJoe - 12-02-2008

I lost the other one this summer after a pinion gear came loose and overloaded that motor. I just swapped two new ones for now.
