sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - pwnzor - 01-25-2008

I can get a brand new one, HT pipe, clutch setup and air filter for $140 shipped............Rocco, I know you have experience with these. Tell me what you think about them, the price is really good. Will it be enough for club level racing? What kind of power characteristics are to be expected, what plugs do the like? Do they need shimmed to run 30% out of box? What kind of longeivity can I expect if treated halfway decent Smile thnaks for any info guys Smile

I had one and it was super easy to tune and ran very well IMO not a power house but about equvilant of my werkz B3.... great engine for the money though

cool Ryan......thanks, Its NOT what I want(want a p5x) but I am short on $ atm and this wont set me back too bad, run it for a couple mths, then get my p5x Smile so for $140 NIB shipped for everything, how can I go wrong?? Also, what pipes and plugs do these like, and do they need re-shimmed for 30% from factory? thanks again Trevor

I ran one of these last season, and in my buggies it ran pretty well (talking about power here), but in truggy obviously it was very weak. It tunes like a dream though, you set it and forget it. It's not going to be a super ballistic mill, but it's very good for club racing IMHO. Also it's not going to last 10+ gallons like a higher end mill. It likes O.S. 8s in my experience with them, and they run good with an 053 pipe. Also the RB 2045 ran good on it, but that's just what came with mine when I bought it, I think it's safe to say that it wouldn't be worth it. Hope I helped you out!

I dont want ballistic, Im just learning to drive, so that would'nt be what I need at all, Im looking for controllable, yet respectable, oh, did I mention cheap..........thanks for the reply man Smile

I never shimed mine for OD 30%. Mine ran great and was easy to tune as well. Mine was version 1 so yours will be even better. Wink I sold it around the 4-5 gallon mark and was still running great. I think I ran a hot plug in it MC59. Power wise its pretty good. You'll be able to keep up with alot of others and at that price the smiles wont go away...

Unless you get a bum one :eek:

Good Deal. I'd say go for it if you need a motor.

If you dont abosluletly have to run, wait till it gets warm and save your money for the novarossi.

Thats another way to do it...cause I dont know if you're like me, if you get it and are dissapointed. You'll spend double getting what you want.

This is a great engine for the $ and can do well if tuned right. These engines like to be run warm so do be afraid to run them 250 - 260. Brian Kadow runs upfront every time he races with the Dynamite/Sportwerks engines. They do not have alot of bottom end but they do have alot of top end. The Dynamite .007 & .053 pipe both work well with this engine. MC59 also is a great plug and can save you a few $$$,s. You do not need to shim the engine for 30% just make sure you do the heat cycles to break it in. Get the engine up to 200 deg before you ever start it and you will be fine.

Good luck.

thanks everyone

Hey Bro-
Sorry Actually never ran that motor. I always ran xtm 24/7 motors. The are very similar (made by SH) Its a desent mill. Its only really lacking bling factor. Well that and it wont last as long as higher $$$ mills but 5 or 6 gallons for a mill that cheap is worth it.

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - J-Dub - 01-25-2008

Big Grin

at least you'll be able to run, Im too picky I have to get what I want or nothing at all.

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - pwnzor - 01-25-2008

me too usually, but that isnt going to get me on the track Wink

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - J-Dub - 01-25-2008

Yep. :-D

I'll be getting a buggy soon enough. decided after alot of looking that I wanted to get the Xray Buggy. I know parts supply are limited around here, but...I dont want to jump the mugen and Kyosho bandwagon.

I dont know if anyone else is like me, I dont exactly enjoy having the same thing as everyone else. Lol.

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - blktransam - 01-25-2008

I have always ran the Jp series pipes...right now I am running a JP-4 and love it on my current engine (werks b3)...I always have liked RB plugs I run a #6 majority of the time with 30%, also I did not re-shim it for 30% good luck Trev and keep us posted.

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - pwnzor - 01-25-2008

thanks man, I'll pronbably sell the ht pipe that comes with it, then buy the new AE 2035 black hardcoat pipe and PL low pro air filter set-up.........I'll run the clutch for a bit, then change it all out to new Jammin silver pro shoes, 13t vented cb and 1.0 springs and new cb bearings.

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - slaytanic - 01-25-2008

I just got the same deal. Plan on running it in my INferno GT next spring.

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - pwnzor - 01-26-2008

cool deal man, Its not really the route I want to go, but I am on a tight budget, until around June :/

sportwerks v2 .21.........any good? - slaytanic - 01-26-2008

Think of the cost even if you went cheap as possible for the clutch shoes, springs, collet, flywheel, clutchbell, bearings, pipe, and airfilter alone! Motor is damn near free!
