I'd look at some of the Team Associated stuff just off the top of my head, I always see their cars doing very well.

Not really into the smaller stuff, like the big scale on-roads.

Andy Moore and Atsushi Hara both drive for HB/HPI and win world champs, so they have some decent cars to work with right?

TC3's make a good starter 1/10 onroad. I have one with lots of spares, and did well running it. Lots of parts and hop ups still exist and it's not really an "outdated" car.

I say go Losi XXX-S, they have a good RTR with a Novak brushless system. Its a great first car & the no maintanec of the brushless motor keeps it on the track. Smile

If you plan on running outdoors at Leisure ...will they let you race with a brushless? If you are planning on running at Hobbytown St. Charles this year their track will not be as large as Leisures...from what I can tell the track is about 100 feet long which means you'll keep up without spending lots of moeny on mod motors or upper end brushless. If you race at Leisure and if last year is any indication of how the track will be layed out this year you'll want a fast mod motor. If you need a fast mod motor you'd be better off getting a kit. Many of the RTR's don't come with speed controls that can handle a 8,9 or 10 turn motor...and they ship with a 15 to 17 turn motor. That's not enough power if Leisure's outdoor on-road track will be setup for a 175-200 foot straightaway.

ok sound like a brushless motor is the way to go. what kind of kit car is a good one. was looking at RDX PHI or SCUMACHER Mi3. maybe there is a kit that is just as good and costs less.
