Hemi Cuda. Wink

Barrett Jackson - MX_KEVIN - 01-20-2007

My boss bought a Hemi cuda from there last summer. We had to put it in a bubble to keep people off of it. Poor car...

Barrett Jackson - FreeRideFrosty - 01-20-2007

Where do you work??

Barrett Jackson - MX_KEVIN - 01-20-2007

At that time it was bensenvillemotors.com, now autoshowcase1.com. Same owners.

Barrett Jackson - FreeRideFrosty - 01-20-2007

Wow. Pretty cool. What did he end up paying for it? Did he get it as a showroom piece or what?

Barrett Jackson - MX_KEVIN - 01-20-2007

Its was close to 100k. Ya, it sat in the showroom for a few weeks. The guy they out bid ended up buying back from them for a few grand more plus shipping.
I think there nutz sometimes. put out all that money to make a grand or two. talk about big risk...

Barrett Jackson - Meatwad - 01-20-2007

wow thats crazy. i couldnt imagin doin thatRolleyes

Barrett Jackson - FreeRideFrosty - 01-20-2007

Oh definitely. You need to have LOTS of money burning a hole in your pocket to risk turning a profit on any of these cars. I respect the guys who go out and buy their dream car.... but the prices are rediculous. I would rather go and build a car myself anyway. It would mean so much more.

Barrett Jackson - MX_KEVIN - 01-20-2007

If your plan is to keep forever great, but to build to try and sell for profit, never happen

Barrett Jackson - Rawkfist_02 - 01-20-2007

I bet you guys didn't know this.
ALL cars that sell, each car has 8% fees go to the auction itself. So a 1,000,000 car gives the auction $80,000

Exactly. If I am going to pour endless hours and years into a car it would be for me. I don't think I would be able to sell it to buy someone elses car....

Barrett Jackson - Mnster - 01-20-2007

The auctioneers get 8% above the final price.Big Grin

Yep...Seller pays the 8%, buyer pays some money also plus $500 for the pass to walk the floor and make bids IF you qualify. They want to know you got the dough before you take there floor space.
Not to shabby. the auction makes the $$$ at all ends. When ever they send the book of whats running for there next auction I like to finger threw it and let me tell you that book look like it would cost a few hundo to put together. They are not going broke thats for sure...

Barrett Jackson - MX_KEVIN - 01-20-2007

And just to add when my boss goes there he's way out of his league. There is some REAL money there.

Barrett Jackson - FreeRideFrosty - 01-20-2007

No doubt. The guy that bought that $5,000,000 cobra has bought at least 3 more cars......

Barrett Jackson - AddictedtoNITRO - 01-20-2007

he owns a museam(spelling) in south west.
btw that cobra was probably worth double that.

it's up to 10% this year I seen

Barrett Jackson - FreeRideFrosty - 01-20-2007

That Cobra could be considered priceless. One of Two and the only one remaining, personally owned and driven by Carrol Shelby.... what more could you want. An absolutely AMAZING vehicle. I love the cobra's and always have, that one was on a whole different level though.

Barrett Jackson - AddictedtoNITRO - 01-21-2007

your absolutly right frosty they really can't put a price on that car. You could tell carrol was hurtin a little also by his look. I have always been a ford guy and a huge fan of the amazing work that carrol shelby designs and it was a great accomplishment and says a lot for the shelby empire. Made me a little proud to be a fan

Barrett Jackson - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 01-21-2007

I wanted to see more Camaros. A '69 Z28 went for $120k. There may be hope for my '72 yet!!

Barrett Jackson - FreeRideFrosty - 01-21-2007

There is hope for any of the old muscle cars. The first car I will end up working on is my Dad's '71 riviera with a 455. Needs a carb, tune-up, paint, and a rear end and it should be set for a while. You cannot have a 455 with a non-posi rear end. I don't know what they were thinking when they built that at the factory. With the posi rear end these things end up pretty damn quick for a land-ridden boat. Rumor has it that I get the car when I graduate college... not sure if it's true or not though.

Barrett Jackson - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 01-21-2007

GM had the bigblock 455/454 in just about anything in the 70's. My parents had them in almost every car we owned. And they all had open rearends.
