suggestions for esc for a RC10 Championship Edition - mikev - 01-09-2007

Well I am just about done w/ the top cat so on to the next project. I have an old rc10 championship edition buggy that i picked up off ebay a while back. The car is in really great condition other than it doesn't run(that can be a pretty big problem I am told.) I contacted AE and they told me I probably had to replace that green whatever it is w/ a new esc. I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions as to a decent/reasonably priced esc speed control? I don't want to put a ton of money into the car as I am picking up my first nitro ride and would like to focus on that when it arrives.

thanks for any suggestions

very cheap circuitry^^ Go with Novak, GM, or Tekin, they will last forever

it is referred to as a mechanical-resistor type speed control.....total old school, but neat to watch it actutate, I would look for a used Novak Cyclone on E-bay, I think they are 450 continuous amps forward, they rock hard Wink

that's a cool kit man, I would love to see pics of that once you are done, I use to run modified RC10's with Race Prep motors way back in the day At R&R Hobby, I met Jay Halsey and Cliff Lett when they were running RC10's at R&R for Associated, After the RC10, I went to kyosho Optima 4wd......good luck on getting that baby going........Old school vintage ftw Wink

wish the other 5 novaks I've thrown in the garbage would of done that.
Tekin on the other hand is good just high priced the new one's are top notch and I've never dealt with gm so I can't say. I just know that depending on what your doing cheap circuitry or not the dtx esc's in my fleet have never left me stranded. Also I have a few friends and relatives running them that could vouch. If you have the monry though I would def go with a new tekin g11 or equiv
