Thats what I say.

Spray in very light mists to help the paint stick (should take about 3-5 coats to get the color where you want it). If water based, use a heat gun to heat set the paint.

nick, didnt i allready tell you???

i said yes you need to clean it, and you spray paint it lightly and do 3-4 coats of paint and after each coat you dry it with a blow dryer

but some painters do VERY LIGHTLY scuff before they paint.....

with a scotch bright pad

and if they are using dark colors

I've had very little reason to scuff prior to paint....just wash & rinse thoroughly and you'll be fine

ok and ya kevin u did but i wanted the opinion of pretty much "pro" painters like mike and stuff.

I used to meticulously clean the body, scuff it carefully with a scotch brite pad, clean again, and then paint.

It still chipped when I landed on the roof and stuff.

So I gave up and just wash them now, and it did not seem to make any difference at all for the durability of the paint job.

But I never have any luck with Pactra black paint. Is it me or does that paint just love to chip and crack?

Black spray can ?

I guess my way of prep is overkill. I first scuff with a VERY fine steel wool or scotch brite pad then wash, apply window masks, and finally clean once more with rubbing alchol then paint..I feel it works very well the one body on my basher has yet to flake anywhere, its also 2 years old and looks like hell.

I also use denat alcky as a last step, to remove finger prints etc.

It's the paint. The Faskolor & Createx paints I've been using adhere very well to lexan w/o scuffing. It may have to do with using a heat gun in between coats to "set" the paint, or the use of Faskoat as the final backer. Either way I've had very good luck w/ those products.

I never had ANY luck with pactra paint at all. Even the white seemed to hate me. I use all Fascolors now and have never had a problem since.
