Good Tool Box - Casketman - 12-03-2006

Getting tired of having to carry in 3-4 bags and boxes so thinking about getting one of those rolling tool boxes. So I have narrowed it down to this list.

I just noticed that only the Lowes link is working for some reason. Oh well Sad
But one of the Home Depot boxes is a stainless steel box.

Thoughts and Ideas if you please.

Good Tool Box - cemeb4dk - 12-03-2006

The link you posted form Lowes, was like the one I had. But it was by black and decker Firestorm, it was orange and gray instead of blue. The bottom I used for tires, spares, and the tray on the bottom I used for shock fluids and oils. The top tool box tray I used for my tool, under that I carried a starter box. The top tool box has a removeable tool tray that I would use for little things like glow plugs and a few tools, I brought this to the pit table... I like it alot and still have it but my Team magic hauler is much better....

Good Tool Box - Casketman - 12-03-2006

Not to many out there will fit a truggy it seems. I have seen the firestorm box you talk about also. It wasnt at that lowes site as the 2-1 tool box. It was sold top and bottom apart.

Good Tool Box - MX_KEVIN - 12-03-2006

Hey Drew. I had a box that had plastic wheel and IMO they dont last long. Try to find one with roller blade type wheels. They seem to hold the weight better.
Ive been using my smaller dirt bike bag which works out really well. I do like the idea of the tackle boxes for all the smaller stuf, but Ive been using the small parts containers that I toss into the bag. I also have a larger bag which could hold everything including 2 cars. It was around 125 and too nice to get all dirty with the Rc stuff but very big.

I have a wingtote. But now that I look at it. It seems to be just useless and to big. I am fine with just having my truck sit on top of the box as I wheel it around. Hell, maybe get some cords to strap it down to the box or handle.

Right now I have my tackle box,1 bag for my fuel and start box,1 for tires(dont have much yet) and then my truck. So if I can drop all that down into one usefull package (which is my goal) and still have room left over for other things(like food, drinks or whatever else I may need to bring).

That bag does look nice kevin.

Good Tool Box - Racin' Ranger1 - 12-03-2006

i have a black and decker one idk what one it is but its a 2 in one fits a truck around the handle and a starter box in the bottom bin (or tires) and lots of stuff.wont fit a gallon up right but laying down it will. i use that a regular tool box and thats it every thing i need fits right in it.

Good Tool Box - SLOW REVO - 12-03-2006

I was at home depot the other day looking at there tool boxes.
they just seem to bulky compaired to the new team magic hauler.

Good Tool Box - Casketman - 12-03-2006

But will that fit a mugen truggy? I have seen the bags at Amain from magic. But one is for 1/10th and the other for 1/8 buggy. If I were to take off the wheels, would that allow the truggy to fit in the 1/8th bag or is there just enough room in there for the buggy to fit and thats it?

Good Tool Box - rocco79 - 12-04-2006

I dont think there is a bag that the nugen or any other truggy will fit in... But they do velcro to the top with the handle

Good Tool Box - dentguy92 - 12-04-2006

the TM bag has a adjustable strap on top for your truggy

Good Tool Box - satoch - 12-04-2006

This is what I have used for over a year. No one travels as far as I do. Just to get to the track I go down 3 flights of stairs, take this 2 blocks to the bus, then a block to the train, 100 yards to a carpool, then to the track.

The starter box, gallon of fuel, spare tires, fuel bottle, pit towel, spare engines, cordless screwdriver, and lunch go in the bottom. Parts go in the middle box, and the top box has a foam cut out for transmitter, charger, fluids, and another small parts tray. I also velcro another box on top when running two classes.

Feel free to check out my set up next time at the track. Oh yeah, and it all breaks down into 3 boxes and a handle for transport in any car.

Thanks Dave

Good Tool Box - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 12-04-2006

no problemo! That does look like a handy hauler setup. So you just have to strap the truck(s) on the top when you roll it?

Good Tool Box - SLOW REVO - 12-04-2006

Did you see the bigger rolling job box for 59.99. it will fit a truggy:joy:
thats what i think im going to get. it will fit the revo and the buggy plus supplys, 59.99 compared to 169.00 for tm bagConfusedmash:

Good Tool Box - cemeb4dk - 12-04-2006

You also need to consider if a large box like slo revo is talking about will fot in your car, and also the weight of it once filled. I have gone threw a ton of different tote boxes and tackle boxes. Combine all the costs of the ones I tried and it was more than a tm bag.

But the TM bag is by far the best, these larger totes have no organization to them, and like I said before sometimes become to heavy and large for some smaller cars. My TM bag with the use of the side starter box bags carries everything but my radio and tire bag. I make it from car to track in one trip thats running two classes and with 2 starter boxes. Plus the tm fits in my hatchback perfectly and its not over heavy.

I would look at the sportwerks hauler bag its the same as the tm bag except the drawers are cardboard and they go for about 109.00.....

Good Tool Box - Casketman - 12-04-2006

I drive a quad cab dakota. So I can keep it in the cab,or in the bed. But that is another reason why I would like something like this. With all that I have right now. If I bring someone with me to the track with their stuff. Then to the bed it goes(no cover on it as of yet). Its even a tight fit when I have my son with me too.

I saw that metal box. Saw one bad complaint about it. The guy said the bottom box can bend out if something has its weight against it on the inside. I doubt that will be an issue seeing the start box and fuel are down there and thats it.

Good Tool Box - Casketman - 12-04-2006

Ok,so what TM bag are we talking about in all here? I am not sure when I will be at the track again. Might not be for the rest of this year. But I will take a look around at bags and boxes so if you see someone all over your pit. Dont yell, its just me! LOL

Good Tool Box - Casketman - 12-04-2006

Yea,seeing more detail on the bag there at the site. It does look good to me. The Ofna black bag at the top looks good too.
