I've got a HPI sprint that I'm going to use for drifting. What about everyone else?

I think because Nitro is more fun, but sometime I wish I had an electric car or truck... I'm looking into getting an E-Maxx. Does anyone have one in here and would you recommend it.

I don't have any on-road electric, but I do have an E-Maxx. I liked it and I still do. However, since I have my Savage, I don't run it too much nowadays. I am not saying it is not fun. It is just slower that the Savage if you have the stock motors. I have to say it is less maintenace though, but there is maintenance.

One thing that you have to know if you don't have any electric cars/trucks. If you want to get into electric, you have to...again have to buy good chargers and good batteries. Otherwise, you won't see the real performance of you cars/truck.

What kind of electric on-roads do we have on here? - Freddy - 04-11-2005

Recently purchased the Tamiya Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge TL-01 Chassis.

I dropped at Al's Hobby Shop to paint and build, so I should have it by this weekend! Smile

What kind of electric on-roads do we have on here? - Tex - 04-11-2005

I would have built and painted it for you for alot cheaper than them! Just a thought. Wink

And welcome to the boards Freddy!

What kind of electric on-roads do we have on here? - Freddy - 04-11-2005

Thanks Tex! Smile I actually signed up on this board a few months ago but I guess my account was deleted (same thing hapenned with my gfs account).

This is my first FUN! RC car; I use to play with RC cars bought from Radio Shack, Toy R Us, etc, and i just got back into the hobby so I went a little more upscale and see what happens. If I keep enjoying the hobby like I use to, then I'll eventually get a nitto rc car (after i get my plane (bought 2 planes but they are too advanced for me so I'm selling them), helicopter, and boatBig Grin)

Thanks for the offer but if I knew about it ealier I would of considered someone else besides Al's; althought they are only charging $60 for everything...I guess it's not bad.

I think I remember that.... She was asking for advice on an RC for you....

What kind of electric on-roads do we have on here? - Tex - 04-11-2005

yeah $60 ain't bad I would have charged about that if i had to build an entire kit from scratch. If it was almost RTR I would have just helped you and taught you how to do it. This way you knew for next time. Smile

What kind of electric on-roads do we have on here? - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 04-12-2005

Nothing electric aside from the "winter indoor" Xmods 1/24th car. Electric TC's certainly are cool and fast, but you really have a lot of money invested in batt's, chargers, dischargers, comm lathe, etc, etc, etc. versus nitro. For the pure racer I suppose electric is very desirable, but if you want to race/run (bash?) for extended periods of time, I still vote gas.

What kind of electric on-roads do we have on here? - Freddy - 04-12-2005

thenewguy821- yep, that was her asking for some help on RC.

Tex- I thought I would be able to built the whole thing myself, but I became too annoyed since I would never get to the car (it was sitting in my room for 3 weeks) so I just left to them. I wouldn't mind getting help in the RTR because I'm a complete newbie to this sort of hobby.

DAVEC-NITRO-RS4- I bought my car new for $76 when stores sells them for 104.99 (I dont' remember anymore, but I know it's in that price range). Reason I opted for this car, was because I could choose all of my parts to what I personally think they are good versus some kits they sells you as some associates told me "good batt, good charger, but not so good radio... so eventually you may want to upgrade the radio." So things did came out to be a little more expensive than what I had in mind so I decided to sell a bunch of my fireworks so I can have some money back in.

What kind of electric on-roads do we have on here? - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 04-12-2005

Freddy, I guess I was responding more to Mr Tunes original thread question about what types of electric on-roads the board members run, not so much as commenting on your discussion with Tex.

I do agree, though, that you can get better radio gear if you build from kit vs. RTR. If you just want the basics, you can't beat the volume purchasing power of the manufacturer when it comes to the stock RTR radios. If you are ever going to upgrade, do it the first time you build it. It's like upgrading a computer monitor; once you do it, what do you do with the old one? You never get your money back out of it.

I have a yoke SSG SD/F TC3 and a couple of different YR4 including a Front wheel drive. Most of my buddies are on nitro, so my TC has been collecting dust.
