need quicktime 7. Putfile will eventually convert them to flash, but for now you'll need quicktime.

Any of you guys that meetup at busse absolute experts on tuning? Buddy and I have been having some trouble getting our new motors tuned (me = picco 26 max, him = RB523)... My friend currently has both our revo's and is taking them to Al's tomorrow to see if chip had any ideas.

did you seal the motor?
did you properly break it in?
what fuel are you using, is it fresh?
is your fuel tank sealed?
fuel line free of debri?

not to take this particular thread too far offtopic...

I have NOT sealed the motor as I don't really know how...

These problems are occuring DURING break in, so now I have not completed the full break-in cycles yet. Was having trouble from the get go as I think people monkeyed with the motor when it was on display at al's, the needles were all sorts of messed up to start (HSN was FULLY tightened i.e. full lean....) I tried to reset back to the "factory" specs listed on the included setup sheet and go from there...

I pulled the fuel and pressure lines and tried to blow in them while blocking the end with a finger and they dont appear to have any leaks...

fuel is a fresh gallon of traxxas 20%

I'm kind of wondering if the tank somehow lost pressure recently as it is 3 years old but things SEEM to be ok based on my noobie observations.

I'm not really sure how a leaking motor manifests itself, my current problem is the motor wont draw fuel from the tank, which is what originaly led me to check the lines... Other then that I'm thinking my needles are just all over the place, even after all these years of RC i still dont have a good handle on tuning carbs...

to set the needles for break in ( turn them out so they are flush)
high speed is basically 3 turns out
low speed is 2.5-3
to check if ur fuel take is leaking....take it off, fill your sink with water, and submerge fuel tak under the water while blowing into one line and pinching the other...if you see air bubbles coming out of the tank anywherer...u gotta leak

as far as the motor possibly having a leak...
it is not always neccesary to seal motor but i always seal a new motor since it is easy to do....do a search on sealing motors...im almost positive that i saw a sticky thread on that...if you still have problems, gimme a call and ill help you out

someone on rc universe referred me to this thread/article with pictures and everything:
http://www.savage-central.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=54465

obviously not the same exact engine but i should be able to adapt that... I guess those picco motors were prone to leaking out the front bearing as well, there was a recall for it so that might be screwing me up as well. I'll have to check that stuff out when i get the truck back from my buddy that is taking it to al's.

I did hear that there is about a 2 week wait on repairs at al's, it is about the same at my local hobbytown (crystal lake).. someone could make some good money fixing rc's on the side billing at or below the LHS rate...

New Busse Bash thread (old one too long)! - SaVaGe_DuDe - 07-23-2007

that thread you were linked to is one of the best things you can look at to seal an engine. although all motor are different, the basic build of them is exactly the same. i myself used that thread to seal my first motor. it really is quite easy.

as for the engine not wanting to pull fuel from the tank. is this after fuel hits a certain level in the tank? maybe there might be a clog in the carb. i mean the traxxas stuff is stuffed wtih oil up the ass. lol. so gunking up will probably heppen alot more often. disassemble the HSN housing and check for clogs. flush it out with wd-40 or nitro cleaner to re-assure theres no clogs in it.

and one thing i would do, jsut my personal preference, is change to a different fuel. O'Donnell's is one of the best out on the market.

That thread gets recomended everywhere (mainly because of the pics). Good thread, follow it if you suspect an air leak.

I'm kind of debating switching fuel, that being said I've actually had better luck with Traxxas then I had with ODonnell back in the day.

End result is the fuel issue mysteriously disappeared, needles are properly set andi've got what appears to be common fuel linkage issues (carb sticking) so I'll try one of them aftermarket linkages. Think im going to try the tekno one with the balljoint on it...

Been a bad RC year for me so far, the revo ran just fine for like the past 3 years but now this year ALL my cars have been giving me all sorts of trouble.

Hopefully I can get something running well enough to actually leave the house with it and hit up busse (point of the actual thread).... Smile

Don't be afraid to twist the needles on your motor (a lot) if need be.........see what changes take place.

New Busse Bash thread (old one too long)! - Ponch - 07-23-2007

Yep...When I'm really lost as to what to do, I will do a full turn one way and see what happens, if that doesn't help go back to where I was before and go a full turn the other way...One of those ways something will happen towards what you want, lol...ya only got 2 options...
